Ha, don't be fooled by this innocently looking angel face!

This gorgeous fluff-ball named Halo is incredibly intelligent. She knows what she wants and has been 'testing' me from the day she arrived.

Friends of mine asked me to take care of her for a couple of months and it has been quite an experience from day one.

We have been discovering each other's boundaries, habits and needs.

Same as in with human beings:

🧩 with any person you can't just assume but have to discover what are their needs and wants, and
🧩 teach in return about yourself

With Halo, for instance:

πŸ’₯ First two nights she woke me up at 1am and was squealing at the leash. A-a-as if she was used to being walked in the middle of the night. Right! She... was... bluffing! Thank God, I didn't give in. And now we are sleeping soundly through the night with her snoring her heart out till morning.

πŸ’₯ The other day, I had the front door opened. I was doing something and suddenly felt someone licking my ankle. When I turned around I was caught by surprise. It wasn't Halo but... a cutest cocker spaniel puppy. I picked him up, went outside and found the neighbour who lost him. Later, when Halo came to that spot she started sniffing the rug harder than a vacuum cleaner sucking it clean. Then she gave me 'the look' and went into the furthest corner. She pouted at me for at least half an hour thinking that I was playing with another dog. Got it: all my attention must be given solely to you, Your Highness.

πŸ’₯ Without trying something out first, purely based on my assumption, I bought her a few toys. But she looked at me as if I was a simpleton! Halo's only interested in 'physical touch' and 'quality time', that is, being brushed, petted and walked. Oh, food and snacks of course. So, I guess, it makes 'acts of service' her 3rd love language.

πŸ’₯ I've learnt that she enjoys taking new routes. So, I strive to walk with her into different directions.Β

πŸ’₯ In return, she has learnt thathat I want to do writing in the mornings, so, she patiently waits for me till 8ish am to go for a walk.

In any relationship, it takes attention and effort ❀

How to improve your within just 10 MINUTES?
Β
Here's what has been doing wonders for me 😊
Β
However, first, a few crucial insights I wish I knew sooner!
Β
🧩 🧩 🧩 Stop thinking of your mental wellbeing separately from your physical . If you don't sleep, eat, move, breathe, ground (aka earthing) as a human being should then it will be all REFLECTED in how you feel mentally.
Β
🧩 🧩 🧩 Choose your LONG-TERM over short-term pleasures, for instance:
Β
🚩 go to earlier instead of bing-watching Netflix
🚩 finish showering with cold water even on chilly days
🚩 prep your instead of ordering take out as it is likely to contain inflammatory vegetable oil, unnecessary sugar, table salt, MSG, preservatives, etc.
🚩 don't eat that 2nd piece of cake
🚩 put effort into building instead of hermit-ing on your couch
Β
🧩 🧩 🧩 Keep in mind that it is not something you can be done and dusted with. Our health both physical and mental require ongoing maintenance. Figure out what is that MAINTENANCE schedule that recharges you personally.
Β
🧩 🧩 🧩 In the morning, as soon as possible, go outside for 10 MINUTES. Take care of yourself by doing the following super simple things that will bring significant improvement to how you are feeling:
Β
πŸ“Œ stand barefoot on the ground, grass, sand, in a natural body of water (unless it is below 0 degrees) to ground (aka earthing)
πŸ“Œ have a mug of tea or a glass of water with a pinch of salt and sip slowly to hydrate
πŸ“Œ look into the direction of the sunrise (not at the sun itself but in the direction of it) even when it is cloudy, so, to let your brain know that the day has begun and it is time for
πŸ“Œ acknowledge 5 things you can see, 4 - touch, 3 - hear, 2 - smell and 1 - you can taste (surprise: you have just done a meditation)
πŸ“Œ think of 3 things that you appreciate about your life (as feeling gratitude not only rewires your brain to be happier but also signals to the Universe what it is you value and want more of).

Done!
Β
Do it for the next 3 days and you feel like a whole new person by the weekend 😊

Do you know how to eat a burger?
Β
To enjoy its deliciousness to the fullest and also get the best heath benefits?
Β
This Saturday is National Burger Day in , woohoo!
Β
So, here's a couple of great tips 😊
Β
🧩🧩🧩 Deconstruct your burger!
Β
πŸ₯— eat fiber (veggies and greens) first
πŸ₯— have protein and fats (patty and cheese) second
πŸ₯— only then go for carbs (bread and sauce)
Β
When you consume a meal in this order it reduces your:

πŸ’₯ glucose spike by 73% and
πŸ’₯ insulin spike by 48%
Β
Translation:

πŸ“Œ afterwards, you will have instead of feeling all sluggish
πŸ“Œ in a long run, you reduce chances of chronic inflammation (the leading cause of over 80% of illnesses both physical and wise)

And if you just ca-a-an't help yourself and go-o-otta have your burger as is then do this. Before you bite in have some greens and veggies first. And/or a glass of water with a table spoon of apple cider vinegar mixed in.

In all seriousness, when you eat exactly the same things but in this particular order it makes a huge difference. No need to deprive yourself. Just simply use how your body works to your advantage.
Β
If you would like to know more how this method works I highly recommend to read Glucose Revolution by Jessie Inchauspe (aka Glucose Goddess). It is by far one of the most valuable books on I have come across in my research on how to thrive as a human being in the 2020s!
Β
🧩🧩🧩 Share your meal with people that you like!
Β
Food tastes better in a good company, I kid you not.
Β
And, interestingly, we also derive better .
Β
While Mediterranean Diet is perceived as the best one for our , I reckon, its benefits have a lot to do with the culture in that region. That is, a culture of people cooking and eating together while chatting and enjoying themselves. Researcher Susan Pinker suspects as much as well and elaborates in her talk 'The secret to living longer might be your social life'.

So, whether you're heading out for a lunch at work or having a bbq party at home gather people that bring you joy. Then your gut bacteria will do its best with whatever food you are having.
Β
Enjoy your next burger ❀

To achieve true and it is pivotal to have a right MINDset.

Nelson Mandela is a great example of a person with a who not only had survived spirit breaking hardships but came out with his head held up high after 27 years in prison.

However, in the 2020s, it is only one of the pieces to the puzzle of and thriving as a human being.
Β
Your HEALTHset is as crucial if not more important!

I do believe that in we, as a species, would learn enough about , frequencies and vibration, as Nicola Tesla envisioned. And then we would be able to use our mind, for example, to:
Β
πŸ’₯ heal ourselves instantly
πŸ’₯ repel every harmful bacteria and virus
πŸ’₯ sense whether produce in front of us is organic, non-GMO, has all necessary nutrients, etc.
Β
However, at this point of our development we can't do either of those. Nor we can think our way out of detrimental affects, to name a few, of:
Β
β›” lack of sunlight, sleep, nutrition, movement, etc.
β›” wi-fi signals
β›” Teflon non-stick coating on a frying pan
β›” chemicals in the water
β›” micro-plastics in the air
β›” GMO produce
β›” antibiotics
β›” dysbiosis and so much more!
Β
As I keep highlighting, your HEALTHset is as crucial if not more important!

Furthermore, Robin Sharma also indicates the importance of working on our HEARTset and SOULset.
Β
And if you doubt their importance just look into the so called success stories, for instance, of:

πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Elizabeth Holmes (Theranos)
πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Travis Kalanick (UBER)
Β
These two founders are excellent examples of missing both HEARTset and SOULset. They build their fortunes and gained temporary fame at the expense of other people's not only but also and dignity!
Β
If you want to be truly happy and successful you are ought to work on all 4:
Β
🧩 MINDset
🧩 HEALTHset
🧩 HEARTset
🧩 SOULset

Is sugar actually bad?

That's what everyone seems to be saying!

Overconsumption of sugar causes an array of health issues, no doubt.

The key word, however, is 'overconsumption'!

In reality, sugar is not innately 'evil'. It has its own benefits. This topic is not all black and white as so many want you to believe. A vilifying cookie cut approach should not apply here.

Even with things like kale or a vitamin D supplement it always comes down to:

🧩 quality
🧩 how much you consume
🧩 in what form

Compare:

πŸ’‘berries and honey vs highly processed food-like junk
πŸ’‘per year, our ancestors consumed 20ish spoons of sugar while a modern-day human - 60ish kg
πŸ’‘drinking juice vs eating a piece of fruit as the nature intended

For example, as a toddler I was seriously ill... I technically died twice.

Luckily, my grandma was a brilliant doctor. And I am grateful to my parents who let her take me to her farm in a remote pristine part of Ukraine to nurture me out.

I recovered predominantly thanks to the I was eating there. In particular, guess what, I had lo-o-ots of berries and fruit (both fresh and home canned), various honey and birch syrup. And even home made cakes and an ampoule of liquid glucose time to time.

By the age of 5 years old I bounced back and was a healthy and happy child.

I am a living proof that sugar is not inherently 'bad' as long as it is:

πŸ’₯ of a proper quality
πŸ’₯ in moderation, and
πŸ’₯ in its origional form

Furthermore, these days, it is neither possible nor necessary to eat 100% right...

So, here's the great news:

πŸ“Œ if at least 80% of what we eat is not only healthy but, very importantly, diverse then, in general, it is ok to have a treat occasionally here and there
πŸ“Œ moreover, if it is something that brings us joy emotionally then our gut bacteria will help us the best way it can

The main purpose of pursuing and is not about achieving them.

The most important is WHO you become in the process!

And this applies to both:

🎯 hu-u-uge goals, like turning the humanity into an interplanetary species
🎯 tiny things, such as making your bed

I didn't realize this through most of my life. In particular, I perceived making bed as a waste of my time and energy.

However, thanks to , now, I understand that spending a part of my life on this chore is actually an INVESTMENT into myself.

And it is not just me. Even toughest and strongest Navy Seals make their bed daily!

Why?

Among other things:

βœ” Whether our is tidy significantly affects the state of our mind (in particular, clutter is one of the reasons behind challenges)
βœ” It strengthens our courage and raises self-confidence

How it works and how to amplify it?

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯ I elaborate on this in my upcoming e-book on how to thrive as a human being in the 2020s.

Stop separating from physical !

In particular, where it comes to and .

Mental challenges are caused by issues on the physical level.

And, vice versa, you will achieve mental by taking care of your brain and body.

Here's some of the things that made a significant difference for me personally:

🧩 Utilize cross-adaptation!

If you want to become more resilient mentally, challenge your body here and there. Building up your physical resilience will entail improving your emotional and mental as well. How about going back and forth with hot and cold water in the shower? How about going an extra mile on your next hike? How about trying a new hobby like axe throwing or surfing? I promise, you will feel the difference: your mood will go up while your reactivity to external sources will diminish.

🧩 Meditate!

When you meditate, what happens is that you are physically rewiring your brain to be more focused. From the feeling of: 'My brain is like a browser. 37 tabs are open. Have of them are frozen. And I don't know where the music is coming from...' to a peaceful mind and significantly increased .

🧩 Diversify what you eat as much as possible!

The more diverse your is the more diverse your gut bacteria is going to be. And it has been proven that the more types of microbiome one has the healthier and more resilient they are. Why? Particularly, because all our 'bugs' perform different functions and certain things can be done only when they collaborate with each other and do their work in groups. Help your microbiome to help you.

There's a staggering laundry list of misconceptions about !

What this state feels like, what causes it and how to tame it.

For instance:

❌ anxiety is panic attacks
πŸ’‘ no, how it feels varies from a person to a person including being in a 'freeze mode' which is a complete opposite to a panic attack, a nervous breakdown, etc.

❌ happiness is the answer
πŸ’‘ no, happiness is a side-effect while the solution to both anxiety and lies in improving our

❌ anxiety is a verdict
πŸ’‘ nope, it is not a verdict, we can rewire ourselves if we are committed to taking care of our and are consistent with our efforts

❌ it is about quick-fix hacks (like with Captain Kirk here)
πŸ’‘ no, hacks are helpful only temporarily and won't help you to get off of your 'anxiety roller-coaster'

As for the latter, the secret is in slowly and consistently rewiring your brain for lasting by, among other things:

🧩 intentionally yourself to practice useful thinking
🧩 being clear on what your goals, priorities and values are
🧩 understanding that it is your health and that are most precious (nor time neither circumstances)
🧩 getting proper sleep and deep rest
🧩 collaborating with gut that is helpful to a human being
🧩 having a diet as diverse as possible
🧩 being strict what and you allow access to yourself and/or give power over you

I certainly crave to watch or read something about Ruth Bader Ginsburg this week! How about you?

In particular, after the confirmation hearing (and now confirmation) of Ketanji Brown Jackson as next Supreme Court Justice.

Before the hearing some were saying that Jackson resembled Ginsburg. However, now you won't hear it anymore.

Why?

Ginsberg, among many causes, successfully advocated for rights of .

Jackson does not have an opinion on:
🚩 what a 'woman' is
🚩 whether an individual has natural rights

Hmmm...

To be fair, I will note, that, pursuant to the transcript of Ginsburg's confirmation hearing back in 1993 (link in the comments):

🧩 Overall, Ginsburg responded to 90% of the Senate's questions and extensively. Including on such hot topics as of speech, right to privacy, abortion, gender .

🧩However, Ruth Bader Ginsburg stated that she would not answer a question if she were to believe that her reply would seem like she was prejudging future cases (those that could potentially come before The Supreme Court). For instance, she declined to address issues such as the death penalty and the right to bear arms. And, going forward, a nominee not replying to enquires during a confirmation hearing became known as the 'Ginsburg Standard/Rule'.

This Standard/Rule has been used (and often abused) by every subsequent nominee to a certain extent. Used to omit explaining their judicial philosophy beyond general terms.
Β
Ahem, ge-e-eneral terms!

So, what I observed during the Ketanji Brown Jackson's hearing has been disappointing to me as both a former and a female.

And, tonight, I am definitely rewatching 'On the Basis of S*x' about Ginsburg's life story.

Yes, there are a few things in the movie that are exaggerated. For instance, Ginsburg did not stammer when addressing the court in real life.

However:
πŸ“Œ the interactions depicted between Ruth Ginsburg and her husband, children, friends, etc. are all true
πŸ“Œ so are Ginsburg's passion, tenacity, mission, intelligence, struggles and achievements!

RIP and , Ruth ❀

Grass is greener on the other side? Then, here's:

πŸ“Œ 2 things you gotta IMPLEMENT, and
πŸ“Œ 3 things to UNDERSTAND to begin with

πŸ’‘ Sometimes the other side looks greener because the grass is fake. Such as, often a celebrity or influencer who looks happy on a pic (took a second to take it, well, to fake it) are absolu-u-utely miserable in real life.

πŸ’‘ The grass could be real but... it seems greener to us due to our own faulty perception and lacking appreciation for our own grass.

πŸ’‘ The other side could be indeed greener. However, we have no idea at what cost?! In particular, an 'overnight success' is a myth, things don't just magically happen. There's never a label with how much time, , effort, , health, it 'cost' someone to get it like this. More often than not, if we knew the whole truth about someone's journey we wouldn't consider them lucky anymore and very few would still feel envious.

Whether it's your professional success, , a relationship, , physical , etc. you shouldn't be upset about not having certain results if you yourself have no-o-ot been putting proper efforts in that area.

Do you want a greener grass in your own yard?

Then, :

πŸ“Œ water it, nurture it, feed it, WORK on it in every way possible
πŸ“Œ and, very importantly, APPRECIATE it every step of the way!

Our depends on these 2 factors!

In particular, how intense our gets and how low we steep into is a result of:

🧩 types of we allow to be in our lives and have to deal with
🧩 the level of our , that is, how much we can handle at that point in time

As for the latter, I do believe that the ultimate and totally achievable goal is to make yourself 'unf**kwithable'. That is, to become so resilient and centered that no-o-othing and no-o-o one would be able to disturb your inner peace!

However, considering how more and more fast-paced and stressful our lifestyle is getting, it surely does take a while to reach such level of . So what do you do meanwhile?

While you need to keep working on improving your own resilience, it is also important, simultaneously, to be aware what you specifically allow to stress you out and decide what is it you can do about it.

Just to name a few reasons for build-up stress:

🚩 multitasking in the name of while it entails the opposite
🚩 slouching over mobile, in front of a computer, etc.
🚩 spending our days inside and not getting enough of the sunlight
🚩 consuming highly processed like products and/or having a monotonous diet
🚩 chemicals in the water and air, on fruit and veggies, in personal hygiene and cleaning products
🚩 watching news, dramas, ads as they are being made to be overly negative on purpose, so, to get+keep+direct our attention
🚩 staying in that invoke ambivalent or negative emotions in us

According to my recent survey, lack of sleep is the main reason for many, as you can see.

April is the Stress Awareness Month and there's no better time than now to:

πŸ“Œ evaluate what causes stress for you personally, and
πŸ“Œ remove (or at least reduce) it/them to make yourself happier and healthier in the near

How to lower the rates of death and illness going into the ?

No no no, not:

πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ overdosing on multivitamins
πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ putting all of you trust into Big Pharma
πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ having a monotonous diet (even if it's all spinach)
πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ spending over 90% of your day cooped up inside
πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ bleaching surfaces and 'bathing' in hand-sanitizer
πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ omitting to do your own and shying away to ask for 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinion from medical practitioners

If anything all of that does more harm than good to both our:

β™₯️ physical and
β™₯️

Here's a few things that actually make us, human beings, healthy and happy:

🧩 proper sleep (quantity and quality)
🧩 useful thinking and being nice to yourself
🧩 the sunlight and lots of it through the day
🧩 having weekly at least 30 different veg, herbs and fruit
🧩 eating real food instead of over-processed food-like junk
🧩 socializing and putting effort into building proper relationships
🧩 improving your mindset and such as your focus, creativity, empathy, confidence, decision making, etc.
🧩 less sitting/slouching and more moving through the day (even if these are just micro-movements)
🧩 being utterly selective about everything that influences you, in particular, information/people/things that have a negative and/or draining affect on you

The secret to a robust health and true happiness is not popping meds and/or hiding away.

It is the little things that we are doing consistently! And following insightful experts, of course πŸ˜‰

Happy , please take care of yourself β™₯️
