Did you know that more than 1,000 people are sleeping rough in the city of Melbourne every night? That's more than 1,000 people who don't have a safe and secure place to call home. But it doesn't have to be this way.
Melbourne Zero is a bold initiative that is working to end street homelessness in Melbourne by 2025. The initiative is based on a proven model of collective impact, which brings together government, business, and community organizations to work together towards a common goal.
At the heart of Melbourne Zero is a Housing First approach, which recognizes that the first step in ending homelessness is to provide people with a stable and permanent place to live. This approach has been successful in other cities around the world, and Melbourne Zero is committed to making it work here too.
But Melbourne Zero can't do it alone. We need your help to make sure that everyone in our city has a safe and secure place to call home. Whether you're an individual, a business, or an organization, there are many ways that you can get involved and support this important initiative.
So if you're passionate about ending homelessness in Melbourne, please join us and help make a difference. Together, we can create a city where everyone has a place to call home.
My darling Melbourne, a lot has happened the past few years. And there’s something we need to talk about…
Today, we’re starting something big, for all of us! Melbourne Zero is a catalyst for change - a campaign that seeks to build a movement of Melburnians, like you, who know we should and can end homelessness in our city.
We’re kicking off with a ‘love letter to the city’ which you can read in today's The Age, signed by the founding members of the Melbourne Zero Network - an alliance of diverse Melbourne-based businesses, brands, organisations and community groups publicly calling for change and taking practical actions to make zero homelessness a reality in our city. This is just the start of our campaign to build a movement that helps make Melbourne liveable city for all of us. We want to be Australia's first city to end street homelessness.
Show your love for our city. Join us on this journey - visit the Melbourne Zero website to add your voice to the call for change.
Melbourne, zero homelessness is possible.
