DETERGENTS IN AERATED SEPTIC SYSTEMS.
This what happens when you use too much detergent and you have an AERATED WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM…e.g…..Bioseptic, Envirocycle, EcoSeptic, Supertreat, Gardenmaster etc.
All of these use various forms of aeration to keep the good bacteria alive….but when you use too much detergent the bacteria basically get caught inside these bubbles and die, then you get a very smelly system… this one is on the verge of needing to be pumped out.
These two pics are 6 minutes apart. Look at the amount of bubbles… yes this is bad.

After all these storms and lightning….you may find it prudent to check that your Aerated Septic is actually working.
1/ check that the power is turned on at the circuit breaker. THE ALARM WON’T WORK WITH NO POWER on most systems.
2/ wander down and make sure it is humming if it is supposed to, and doesn’t have sludge and water coming up thru the lids.
3/ look around and make sure the sprinklers have been working.
If something doesn’t look ( or smell) right, then call your service technician straight away.

DANGER IS OUT THERE.
DURING THE STORM DON’T TOUCH ANY ELECTRICAL ITEMS. If you have to reset the circuit breaker…make sure you and where your standing is dry. Only reset once, because if it trips again means that something is wrong. If you are unsure, call someone qualified to work on it.
Leave the fridge and freezer closed.
If your power is out to the house, ring your electricity supplier…but don’t expect them to respond straight away, they have to think of the safety of their employees.

Happy New Year everyone.
Has the family been over for Christmas and now you are getting a weird smell from your septic system?
Go out and do the usual check, make sure there are no kinks in the irrigation pipe, can you hear the aeration blower humming like it’s supposed to?
If not, then please CALL or TEXT us before you get distracted by the grandkids, or the new toy in the shed, on the work mobile 0413153009.

Just have to say…with pride….thank you to our customers. It shows that we are doing something right when they will call us and say “we have Covid” or other serious health risks so that we don’t get sick.

Maybe having a look at the inlet screen on top of your water tank. It could be just about or completely blocked. Here are a couple of pics from this morning…… and I must say, not their fault, they just didn’t know.

For the Rural residents of the Royall area affected by the planned outage tomorrow ( Thursday 13th).
Please be careful tomorrow when the power comes back on. Check your water pumps, septic system, fridge and freezer, electric garage door opener, etc.
Make sure you put your electric gate on manual so you can get in and out if it doesn’t have a battery backup.
All the stock floats are full!

Power outage and rain…… if you have a pump that pumps away the ground water from around the outside of your system, you need to think about how to keep it powered.
I would recommend that you……
CAREFULLY connect that pump to a generator and pump down every hour or so. This will minimise the chance of your system hydraulic out of the ground.
