Fantastic news for Proserpine

PROSERPINE RV PARK TO RE- OPEN
Whitsunday Regional Council today voted unanimously to reopen the popular free Proserpine RV Rest
Stop from next year, signalling strong support for tourism growth and local business in the heart of Proserpine.
Located behind St Catherine’s Church on Main Street, the free 48-hour stopover will reopen for the
dry season (April to October each year), welcoming fully self-contained vehicles and bringing a
significant boost to the town’s visitor economy.
Economic modelling shows that reopening the site could inject between $860,000 and $1.7 million
annually into the Proserpine economy through traveller spending on local goods and services.
Mayor Ry Collins said the decision reflects Council’s commitment to supporting local business and
driving regional tourism.
Division 3 Councillor John Collins said he was proud to see the community’s calls for reopening
the site formally supported by all Councillors.
“I’ve advocated strongly for the return of the RV Rest Stop because the community has been very
clear that it works for Proserpine,” Cr Collins said.
“This is a win for our local business community, our tourism operators and the many volunteers
who have worked hard to make visitors feel welcome here.
Under the plan endorsed at today’s Ordinary Council Meeting, the Rest Stop will reopen from April
2026, with minor upgrades, improved signage and seasonal operation to minimise wet-season
maintenance.
Council will now progress a Development Approval amendment and finalise lease and operational
arrangements ahead of reopening.

To our wonderful staff, clients and friends,

As we're winding down from another whirlwind year, we'd like to thank everyone for your support with entrusting us and our wonderful team, in caring for your properties in 2024. We look forward to serving you in 2025.

This Christmas season is a special one for our family with the added joy of our first born grandson, and our children joining us for our Aussie Christmas Lunch. 🥰🥰🥰

Its also a time for reflection.

Some of you may know about our trip in May and this trip has affected me like no other.

I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I won't apologise. It has however opened my eyes to other countries plights and maybe broke my heart a little in the process.

Jack and I had a fantastic time exploring Vietnam and an even shorter visit in Cambodia. This was part of my 'bucket list'. We met a lovely man in Cambodia, and continued the friendship from afar. Meeting his beautiful family, and in turn helping him out by sponsoring his son to study English is life changing for his family. This is additional to his Khmer studies. He is going well, and we're so proud of him. Being bestowed as an honorary Grandma/Grandpa is a highlight and receiving updates on his schooling and daily life is indescribable. I look forward to our facetime and sharing our news.

Education is the key. Without that, we have nothing. Things aren't always as they seem, and sometimes the things that matter most, are right there in front of us. I'm guilty of taking our life for granted and this has been a huge reality check.

Please check out Cultivating Cambodia - a small grass roots, non profit organisation set up by a husband and wife team. This is an ideal way to help those less fortunate than ourselves, in a country where they are amongst the poorest in the world.

Merry Christmas to all of our families and friends, here in Australia, Italy and Cambodia. It's not what's under the tree, but whose around it. Wishing you all a healthy, safe and prosperous New Year.

If you're driving, especially now our highway has reopened, please drive to the conditions. We all want to be with our loved ones this Christmas 🙏🏼

A quick update from Etwell, Jack & Jan will be away from the 30 April to 16 May.

During this time, it will be business as usual for our regular customers and contracts. However, any new enquiries will be attended to when we return.

Jack’s mobile will be diverted, so you can still reach out if needed. We're doing our best to ensure everything runs smoothly while we're away.
