🐜 TERMITES: THE SIGNS YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS! 🏠

Termites can be quietly causing damage inside your home long before you realise they’re there. And in Australia, they’re a pest worth taking seriously! 🇦🇺

Keep an eye out for these warning signs 👀👇

🔹 Mud tubes or trails along walls, foundations, trees or in subfloors
🔹 Hollow-sounding timber when tapped
🔹 Cracked or bubbling paint that can look like water damage
🔹 Doors or windows becoming difficult to open or close
🔹 Damaged or weakened timber
🔹 Discarded wings around windows, doors or other light sources
🔹 Live termites or termite workings
🔹 Small piles of frass or droppings around timber
🔹 Swarmers appearing around your home, particularly after warm or humid weather

⚠️ The tricky part? Termites can be hidden from view. By the time obvious damage appears, they may have already been active for some time.

If you spot any of these signs, don’t wait and hope they disappear. 🐜

🐜 When your compost becomes a termite hotspot! 😳

This is definitely NOT what you want to find sitting in your backyard!

During a recent visit to a customers house he showed us this huge termite nest he had discovered on top of his compost. The combination of moisture, organic material and timber around the area created an ideal environment for termites to move in and get comfortable.

Termites don’t always announce themselves by damaging your house first - they can establish nests in gardens, compost areas, tree stumps and other areas around your property before making their way towards structures.

🔎 Our tip: Keep timber, garden waste and compost areas away from the house where possible, and keep an eye out for mud tubes, damaged timber or unusual termite activity.

If you’re in the Port Macquarie & Mid North Coast area and think you may have a termite problem, don’t wait until the damage becomes obvious.

When the wood comes away… 👀🐜

What looked like old timber simply stored against the side of the building turned out to be hiding something much more concerning.

Once Lucas removed the timber, he found termite trails and active termites making their way along the brickwork. 😳

This is a great reminder that storing timber, garden waste or other wood directly against your building can create the perfect conditions for termites to go unnoticed.

🐜 Termites don’t always announce themselves.
🔎 Regular inspections can help catch activity before significant damage occurs.
🏠 And sometimes, what’s hiding behind that old pile of timber is exactly what you don’t want to find!

If you’re in the Port Macquarie or Mid North Coast area and have timber stored against your home or building, it might be worth getting it checked.

🚨 Think you’d notice termites? Think again.

Did you know that one termite queen can lay up to 2,000 eggs a day — imagine how fast that damage adds up!

🤫 They work silently, breed fast, and can cause serious damage in under a year, and termite damage is often not covered by insurance!

A termite inspection now is cheaper than repairs later 🏠🐜
