People think pest control is all tight roof voids and muddy subfloors…

They’re not wrong. But it's hard to complain when the office looks like this.

One of the perks of working around the Noosa hinterland.

⛽ Important Update - Rising Fuel Costs ⛽

With fuel prices reaching record highs, we’ve had to make a small operational change to keep things sustainable.

From today, we will be moving to a client-delivered pest model.

Instead of us travelling to site, we kindly ask that you bring your insects into our office for treatment.

This helps reduce fuel usage and allows us to keep pricing as reasonable as possible.

To assist with the transition:
• Please ensure all insects are securely contained prior to transport
• Mixed infestations should be separated where possible
• Large quantities may require booking a drop-off time
• No loose ants in the vehicle (learned this the hard way)

We are currently trialling a drive-through option for flying insects, however they must remain inside the vehicle at all times.

For those unable to transport their pests, onsite visits are still available, however a fuel surcharge may apply depending on current servo pricing and emotional state at time of booking.

Please note: This is an April Fools’ joke. Please keep your insects at home — we’ll still come to you like normal humans.

Unexpected Upgrade on Today’s Inspection 🐾

Arrived on site expecting the usual slab edge, weepholes and moisture readings…

Instead, I was greeted by Bear - 50 kg of pure enthusiasm and self-appointed “Termite Detection Unit.”

While he hasn’t quite mastered AS 3660 compliance, he did conduct a very thorough sniff inspection of every post, stump and suspicious-looking stick.

No termites located.
Several pats administered.
One highly motivated Rottweiler now believes he’s on payroll.

If your place comes with a built-in security / morale-boosting system like this, I’m not complaining.

I crossed paths with this cool little White Crowned Snake whilst installing a Termite Management System at a property in the Noosa hinterland today.

Luckily I spotted him hiding in some rocks right where I needed to dig, so a quick relocation was needed.

Do not panic about the rake. It was what I was holding at the time and he was more than happy to coil around it for the little trip down to the back garden where he was safely released.

Well it's been way too long since I've managed to get a post up. This last few months has been a bit crazy, starting off with some of the worst cockroach infestations I have ever seen, then rain, sunshine, flooding and now finally a bit more of the sunshine again!

Rather than covering anything in particular, I thought I would simply post up a few random snaps I have taken while out and about over the last few months.

Now that we are coming closer to our down season and with school holidays imminent, it's looking like a good time to break the Swags out and go see some of this fantastic country with the family. Keep your eyes out for some snaps of our upcoming cheeky little trip up to Cania Gorge!

I am hoping to get out into the bush for bit and see a bit of history while up north, with "Beautiful Betsy" a WW2 bomber that went down in 1945 still relatively undisturbed in its final resting site. There is also plenty of fishing to be done in the Cania dam, with plenty of Redclaw, Perch and Bass to be (hopefully🤣) caught.

A happy Easter to everyone!

When was your last Termite Inspection?

After the recent rain, there is now perfect conditions for Termite nuptial flights. Generally expected around this time of year, these are the future kings and queens searching for a nice spot to start a new colony.

I arrived to a Termite Inspection in Noosaville just in time to see these Microcerotermes take off in their thousands.

Whilst these guys are only considered a minor pest species, there are plenty more on the way.

An interesting find at a client's house today.

A large number of Terrestrial Amphipods, known as Lawn Prawns (Arcitalitrus sp.) located on the lower level concrete patios. Whilst some may panic, thinking they are large fleas, these little guys are completely harmless.

They are usually found within the top layer of soil in gardens. Because they lack the waxy coating on their exoskeleton like insects have, they require a moist environment to survive, however they will also die if submerged.

This is why you may see a sight like this after a large amount of rain, as they migrate to escape the water and then subsequently dry out.

There is no treatment required, with a simple clean up and reduction of water where possible being the best approach.

Well, that was a big couple of days to finish off the week, installing a full Termidor termite management system to a property in Noosa Waters.

Whilst this was a rather large job, the biggest headache was treating in a way that left a good finish. With large 450mm tiles running around most of the house, this posed a bit of a challenge when a lot of concrete drilling was required in order to achieve a complete treatment.

Thankfully, the use of Termidor HE allowed for the ability to run large spacings between holes, making for a far less intrusive finish.

I am pretty pleased with the final product here, but as the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.
