As the sun sets on the first day of winter, it’s easy to think your pool can take a break too… but winter is one of the most important times to stay on top of your water care.

Last week’s rain may have diluted your pool water, reduced sanitiser levels & affected your chlorinator’s ability to maintain proper chlorine production. If you’ve noticed your pool looking a little dull, now is the perfect time to check:

✔️ Free chlorine levels
✔️ Chlorinator output settings
✔️ Salt levels for correct conduction
✔️ pH balance
✔️ Filter cleanliness

A few minutes of preventative maintenance now can save you from costly algae treatments when the warmer weather returns.

Remember — clear pools aren’t just for summer. A well-maintained winter pool is the secret to a stress-free spring.

This is the time of year pools quietly go downhill…
Not green overnight — just slowly off until it’s a problem.

Cooler temps + falling leaves + less run time =
Perfect conditions for algae to creep in.

If you do nothing else — do this: 🙏🏼

✔️ Clean your filter (properly)
✔️ Empty baskets (more than you think)
✔️ Fix your timer (it’s probably wrong right now)
✔️ Add Algiguard BEFORE you need it
✔️ Check your salt levels (every chlorinator is different)
✔️ Shock with Swimclear before the cold really hits

This is the difference between a pool that coasts through winter…
& one that costs you $$$ later.

Both our Picton & Bowral Stores will be pausing usual operations in respect of ANZAC Day as we take time to honour & remember the soldiers who served & sacrificed for our country & those who continue to do so.
We will resume normal operations on Tuesday 28th April & we will be happy to assist you with any pool & spa requirements at that time.

If your system is still running on the old time, your pool could be filtering at the wrong hours and that’s when water quality starts to slip (hello algae 🤢).
