《 Questions to Ask 》
~ beforing hiring a fencing contractor

Every contractor is different and has their own way of doing things, we just want to make sure you and your animals get the best fence.

Unfortunately we had to fix another contractors work up on the scarp recently. Horse mesh left loose and wavy (not safe), and the mesh and gate hardware had just been stapled and not even with fencing staples (first picture below 🫣) we definitely felt for the ladies who had paid for the work. And this shows expensive doesn't always mean good and cheaper might not always be bad; either way it pays to do abit of research prior.

We know we won't always be available for jobs, or perhaps within a certain time frame or maybe we just won't be your cup of tea or fit in every budget and thats okay 😊 however we do want to make sure you get a good fence regardless of who does it so here are a couple small Questions you can ask during the quoting stage that will determine your end result;

~ How deep do you go with posts?
Strainer posts that will hold alot of force from certain mesh inc horse mesh or duncan equine stalion rail want to be no less than 1m in the ground and line posts no less than 600.

~ Do you tie off individual runs at corners for even tension distribution or run mesh around a corner?

~ How do you end your mesh and wires?
Do they staple, tie off or use T's - Follow up with why is that option your preference

~ Do you strip picket wires prior to tie off? or cut pickets between line wire and leave the knots. Leaving knots can look untidy and cause catching/scratches to you or animals

~ How do you tension your mesh and wires?
Is it pulled hand tight or tensioned using a straining board, come along or chain walker. Do you use tension guages?

~ And it is always good to have a good look at photos of previous work and ask about their warranty on works.

When in Roleystone 😬

Pre drilling 1.2m through rock for strainer posts and having to pre-drill a hole for nearly every picket 🫣 slow going but we will get there!

🙋‍♀️ Hi friends - just a little post to say we are still around.
We had a nice little holiday over Easter, got back sick and after recovery we're back to work.
A easy 300m side boundary fence completed in serpie, followed by 5 days of forestry mulching for a vegetation buffer along firebreaks on a large property.

We are anticipating the rest of the year will fly by and highly recommend that if you need works done before end of year please reach out now as we only have limited availability left 😊

- fencing
- firebreaks
- slashing
- pest management plans

Why we chose to invest in -
》Flail Mowers《

~ Finely chop vegetation from grass to small saplings. Distributed evenly, which helps with soil moisture retention, w**d control, and nutrient return.

~ No windrows/fuel loading left behind

~ They can manage thick, wet brush and high-volume growth, yet still provide a manicured finish for lawns

We now have 2 Flail mowers available:

• The 2m offset mower has a wide range of movement so it is great for getting around those trees & hard to reach places plus works amazing for hedging and drains.

• The new 3 metre Flail mower is better in open paddocks/larger areas and requires a minimum gate width of 3.3m for access.

Using a flail mower is slower going but the finish is worth it, contact us for a quote on all your Rural Contracting needs

Bio-security notice: Machine and attachments are clean on entry and cleaned before exit of any property.
