We just want to let everyone know that at the moment, due to the wet season and the impact it has on our operations and cash flow, we’re unfortunately not in a position to provide further donations or financial support to families.

Have you felt the impact of the road closures where you are? 👇🚧

Carpentaria Shire Council Mayor Jack Bawden said the financial impact on the Gulf economy can be significant when towns are cut off for weeks… even if some businesses haven’t been directly inundated by floodwaters 🏪🌧️

“We have to acknowledge the fact that the isolation is becoming longer," he said. "In times like this, small business needs a grant or a kick along somehow."

Mayor Bawden also suggested disaster recovery payments could be delivered through local vouchers 💳 rather than cash, to help ensure more money is spent in affected towns .

In a statement to the ABC, the Queensland Government said small businesses directly or indirectly impacted by the disaster may be eligible for Essential Working Capital Loans of up to $100,000 through QRIDA, to help businesses keep operating… including paying wages, rent or rates 💰✅

The Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business says it will continue working with the Queensland Reconstruction Authority and the Australian Government to monitor impacts, including prolonged isolation and supply chain disruptions.

When the Gulf floods, excuses don’t cut it, from Choppers to Barges we get it done.

With Normanton cut off by floodwaters since Christmas, our team still delivering for our clients — a job just 189km away, but reached by barging across the river and driving over 1,600km to make it happen.

A huge thanks to Greg at Carpentaria Freight and their crew, and to our own Shane & Stephen, who went above and beyond to keep works moving and our roads safe across the Gulf & North West.

This is our commitment to our clients: get the job done, no matter the conditions, no matter the distance.
