🐜 Ants are absolutely taking over Noosa right now - and yep, it’s that time of year again.

As the nights get colder, the colonies that have been building up outside start looking for somewhere warmer and more stable… which usually means your house. They squeeze into the tiniest gaps and dark little voids - inside TV screens, behind printers, between books on the shelf, in cardboard boxes, you name it.

And here’s the thing people always tell us: one bait works amazingly for them, while another does absolutely nothing. It’s not bad luck - it’s biology. Different ant species crave different things (some love protein, others oils, others sugar), and their tastes can even change with the seasons or what the colony needs. That’s why random baits from supermarkets, hardware stores, and homemade DIY products often fails.

At Laguna Pest Control, we don’t just chuck down whatever and hope for the best. Our techs are properly trained (from in house qualified entomologist) so they can identify the exact species, read what they’re after, and pick the right strategy for your specific problem.

If the ants have already moved in and you’re over it, give us a call - we’ll come sort them out properly.

🐨 Meet Duncan – Laguna Pest Control's Foster Koala for the Month 💚

At Laguna Pest Control, we're excited and proud to be fostering Duncan this month — a resilient little joey whose journey is a powerful reminder of why every rescued koala deserves a second chance.

Duncan's story began with heartbreak.

He was found clinging to his mother after she tragically passed away from unknown causes. At just 865 grams, Duncan was far too young to survive on his own in the wild.

When rescuers brought him into care, there were no obvious signs of illness. However, further testing revealed he was infected with Chlamydia — one of the biggest threats facing Australia's wild koala population. Thanks to expert veterinary care, dedicated wildlife carers, and a specialised treatment program, Duncan responded remarkably well.

Since then, he has grown stronger every day.

From a vulnerable orphan fighting to survive, Duncan has developed into a healthy, curious young koala with a bright future ahead of him. His days are now filled with eating, sleeping, climbing, and learning the essential skills he'll need to thrive back in the wild.

But Duncan's journey isn't over yet.

Every orphaned koala requires months of specialised care, nutritious eucalyptus leaves, veterinary treatment, medication, health monitoring, and the support of experienced wildlife carers before they can be safely released.

We're honoured to play a small part in helping Duncan prepare for his return to the wild and support the incredible work of those dedicated to protecting Australia's iconic wildlife.

We can't wait to follow Duncan's progress and share updates along the way! 💚🐨

From Classroom to Crawlspace: Do Certifications Outperform Experience in Pest Management?

Just because a technician is qualified - doesn’t mean they have experience.

Qualifications and cheaper prices don’t guarantee effective pest control — ask whether that cheap quote comes with up‑to‑date scientific training, proper licences, proper insurances, high level trained technicians, and safe, proven treatments.

Unfortunately a short course in gaining a pest control licence doesn’t replace hands‑on experience, and decades on the job don’t automatically mean the technician uses modern, evidence‑based methods.

Do your homework: check credentials, read reviews, ask about inspection procedures, products used, and follow‑up guarantees.

Affordable should mean the right balance of price, safety, and great results — not the lowest upfront cost that could leave you paying more later.

Laguna Pest Control is no ordinary pest control business. For years, owner Jay has brought a deep scientific background in biological sciences and entomology to every job, delivering solutions grounded in real knowledge rather than guesswork.

That passion for excellence and expertise runs in the family:

- Daughter Wilara (degree in Criminology) runs the office with precision and professionalism.
- Son Wallace (diploma in Law) brings sharp problem-solving skills to the team.
- And now, 17-year-old Yindi Turner is already making her mark.

While finishing Year 12, Yindi has been excelling in a Head Start program at Sunshine Coast University, completing introductory courses in Chemistry, Evolutionary History, and Biodiversity & Ecology — and topping her classes. Like her dad, she’s fascinated by science and insects, but her biggest passion is rodents — how they think, behave, and interact with their environment. Rodentology is firmly on her radar.

When the opportunity arose to connect with Bobby Corrigan — the world’s leading rodentologist — in New York City, Yindi jumped at the chance. Any serious pest management professional knows exactly who Bobby Corrigan is. When Bobby learned what this 17-year-old was already achieving, he personally invited her to join his exclusive Rodent Academy in NYC (an invite-only program — you can’t pay to attend).

☀️ Yes, we know it’s been raining a lot lately!
We’ve had a few customers ask if they should cancel or reschedule their service — please don’t worry! We’re still coming. ✅

When you booked with us, we sent a confirmation email with all the details, including what to expect before and after your treatment.

Here’s what happens on rainy days:

We’ll arrive as scheduled and complete all the internal parts of your service. Once the weather clears up, we’ll simply return to finish the external areas. This way you stay on schedule and don’t get pushed to the back of the queue.

You don’t need to do anything — we’ve got it covered!

We’ll see you at your scheduled time, just as planned. 🌧️➡️☀️
