Watch this space — Laguna Pest Control has another science expert in the making.

Laguna Pest Control is no ordinary pest control business. For years, owner Jay has brought a deep scientific background in biological sciences and entomology to every job, delivering solutions grounded in real knowledge rather than guesswork.

That passion for excellence and expertise runs in the family:

- Daughter Wilara (degree in Criminology) runs the office with precision and professionalism.
- Son Wallace (diploma in Law) brings sharp problem-solving skills to the team.
- And now, 17-year-old Yindi Turner is already making her mark.

While finishing Year 12, Yindi has been excelling in a Head Start program at Sunshine Coast University, completing introductory courses in Chemistry, Evolutionary History, and Biodiversity & Ecology — and topping her classes. Like her dad, she’s fascinated by science and insects, but her biggest passion is rodents — how they think, behave, and interact with their environment. Rodentology is firmly on her radar.

When the opportunity arose to connect with Bobby Corrigan — the world’s leading rodentologist — in New York City, Yindi jumped at the chance. Any serious pest management professional knows exactly who Bobby Corrigan is. When Bobby learned what this 17-year-old was already achieving, he personally invited her to join his exclusive Rodent Academy in NYC (an invite-only program — you can’t pay to attend).

☀️ Yes, we know it’s been raining a lot lately!
We’ve had a few customers ask if they should cancel or reschedule their service — please don’t worry! We’re still coming. ✅

When you booked with us, we sent a confirmation email with all the details, including what to expect before and after your treatment.

Here’s what happens on rainy days:

We’ll arrive as scheduled and complete all the internal parts of your service. Once the weather clears up, we’ll simply return to finish the external areas. This way you stay on schedule and don’t get pushed to the back of the queue.

You don’t need to do anything — we’ve got it covered!

We’ll see you at your scheduled time, just as planned. 🌧️➡️☀️

Today we’re celebrating one of the absolute best on the Laguna Pest Control team! Kyle, your hard work and dedication don’t go unnoticed. You bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to every job, and you’re the ultimate problem solver out in the field - the guy who always finds a way to get it done right.

You lift up everyone around you. You respect every team member, never put anyone down, and consistently bring out the best in our other technicians with your positive attitude and encouragement. That kind of energy is priceless.

Outside of work, you’re a devoted family man to your three kids and a self-proclaimed gearhead who lives for all things mechanical. We love seeing that same passion and drive you bring to everything you do.

Kyle, we genuinely appreciate you and everything you bring to Laguna Pest Control. Thank you for being such a standout teammate and an all-around great guy.

Meet BeBe — the adorable joey Laguna Pest Control is fostering this month. Isn’t she adorable!

Spotted alone by tourists and rescued by the wonderful team at MI Wildlife Care, BeBe arrived at just 1.15 kg and, with dedicated treatment, has grown to a healthy 2.3 kg.

She’s just moved into a bigger pen to build strength and confidence for a return to the wild. Still shy, BeBe is settling in beautifully and improving each week. Laguna Pest Control is supporting her ongoing care through sponsorship as she progresses toward release.

Today we’re celebrating all the amazing mums — especially the mums of Laguna Pest Control and the incredible wives of our technicians who somehow manage to keep the household running smoother than an ant colony! 👏😂

While some insect mums can lay thousands of eggs in a day… we think human mums deserve a little more credit (and definitely more coffee ☕).

Thank you for everything you do — the early mornings, late nights, endless support, and all the love you give your families every single day.

TERMITE SCIENCE

We recently flew to Florida after an invitation from Associate Professor Thomas Chouvenc to see firsthand the termite research happening at the University of Florida’s Fort Lauderdale facility. Dr Chouvenc is one of the few dedicated termite researchers globally, with over 100 scientific papers published on various aspects of termite behaviour and biology.

Nicky and Jay spent time with Assistant Professor Johnalyn Gordon - who works alongside Dr Chouvenc, getting up close with the centre’s work and learning the practical details behind studying and caring for a collection of over 25 million termites.

While we’d love to share all the photos we took, we’re keeping some of their research confidential — out of respect for the centre’s work. We feel incredibly privileged they trusted us and showed us the projects they’re working on.

That experience wasn’t just interesting — it directly improves how we do things back home. Seeing the lab’s strict protocols and the latest research gave us fresh ideas and confidence that the techniques we use are on the right track. It also helped us refine our approach so we can offer even safer, more effective termite solutions.

Put simply: by working alongside leading researchers, Laguna Pest Control stays a step ahead. We bring academic-level knowledge into everyday pest management so our customers get smarter, more reliable protection against termites.
