When bees cannot find a hollow tree to live in, they are equally happy to live under your floor! (Yes, these are honey-combs. We salvaged over 20kg from this 1-year-old colony -a nice upside to the cost of removal!)

Honey bees love the snug comfort of a wall cavity, but very occasionally they will move into an open attic space. Old combs had fallen off (lying flat on the water tank) -probably due to summertime heat on the roof tiles... But the remaining bees were healthy, now making honey in my apiary. Please call me if you want to adopt these bees!

These photos show bees after living in walls for a couple years. There will be 10,000 - 20,000 bees in these colonies and over 20kg of honey! It's important to remove the honey, otherwise it will attract ants/roaches/rats. When they disturb the honey, it will often leak out of ceilings and walls. It's also important to remove the bee larvae, otherwise it will go putrid and smell horrible for months... These removals typically take 6 hours, including repair of the plaster.
