Sometimes the best phone calls are the ones you never expect.

Yesterday, I received a call from a former client whose home we used to clean in Penola. Their beautiful new holiday home in Robe has finally been completed, and they reached out because they wanted someone they know, trust, and can rely on to take care of it.

To be entrusted with someone’s home is something I never take for granted. It’s not just about cleaning—it’s about building relationships, showing up consistently, and earning trust over time.

So today, Robe became my office. After finishing the quote, I took a moment to stroll along the beach, breathe in the fresh ocean air, and listen to the gentle rhythm of the waves rolling onto the shore.

Moments like these remind me how grateful I am for the connections this business has brought into my life and for the clients who continue to support us, sometimes years later.

Thank you for your trust. It means more than you know. 💛🐝

A clean home is never just about cleaning.

It’s about walking through the door and feeling your shoulders drop.

It’s about having one less thing to worry about.

It’s about creating space for family, rest, connection and the things that matter most.

Whether you’re raising a family, working long hours, or simply wanting to enjoy your home as you get older, we’re grateful for every client who trusts us to help make life a little easier.

Thank you for letting us be part of your journey. ❤️

Yesterday I quoted an end-of-lease clean, and honestly, I left feeling devastated for the owners.

The tenants had only been in the property for three months.

In that time there was significant damage, stained carpets, broken screens, marks throughout the home, food left in the oven, evidence of pets causing damage, and a cleaning bill that will likely run into the thousands once repairs are factored in.

The owners are now left dealing with insurance claims, repairs, lost rent, stress, and the financial burden of bringing their property back to a rentable condition.

But here’s the part I struggle to understand.

These tenants were reportedly already in breach of their lease within the first month. The condition of the property tells a story of ongoing neglect and disrespect for a home that belonged to someone else.

Yet they have been placed into another rental property.

Another landlord.

Another investment.

Another family trusting that their property will be looked after.

At what point do we start protecting landlords as well?

Not every tenant is like this. In fact, most aren’t. There are some absolutely wonderful tenants out there who care for their homes and treat them with respect.

But when clear patterns of damage, neglect, unpaid rent and breaches exist, should that information not matter when assessing future applications?

As a cleaning business, we are seeing more and more properties being handed back in heartbreaking condition. And I can understand why some property owners are deciding it’s simply not worth renting their homes out anymore.

The people who ultimately pay the price are often the landlords who did nothing wrong.

A bond doesn’t cover everything.

Insurance doesn’t cover the stress.

And respect shouldn’t be optional.

Perhaps it’s time for the industry to start asking whether enough is being done to protect the people providing the homes in the first place.

One thing we see all the time especially during end of lease cleans? Dishwasher filters 🤢

Greasy. Mouldy. Full of old food.
And every wash cycle is pushing that grime around your “clean” dishes.

It’s such a small thing to clean… but the difference is HUGE. 💗🐝

Before you crank up the heater this winter… 👀

Check the filters.
Dust the vents.
Book the chimney sweep.
Make sure your heating is clean, safe and ready to work properly.

Because warm homes should feel cosy — not dusty. 🔥🐝

People notice more than business owners think they do.

The fingerprints on the glass.
The dusty corners.
The sticky menus.
The coffee spills near the machine.

When customers walk into your space, they feel it before they even sit down.

Clean spaces don’t just look better — they create trust, comfort and confidence in your business. ✨

13 FAMILY RULES EVERYONE DESERVES TO KNOW

1. Never insult your child
Words spoken in anger can stay in a child’s heart for years. Children remember how you made them feel long after they forget the moment itself.

2. Listen to understand, not just to react
When your partner or child speaks, give them your full attention. Feeling heard is one of the deepest forms of love.

3. No family member should feel like a guest in their own home
Home should feel emotionally safe, peaceful, and welcoming for everyone.

4. Never compare siblings
Comparison creates insecurity, jealousy, and quiet emotional wounds that can last into adulthood.

5. Share meals, not just food
The conversations, laughter, and presence around the table often become the memories people carry forever.

6. When one person struggles, the family supports them
A real family does not abandon people during hard times—it stands closer.

7. Say “I’m proud of you” more often
People grow emotionally when they feel appreciated, not constantly pressured to do more.

8. Teach children consent early
Never force kids to hug, kiss, or interact physically when they feel uncomfortable. Respect teaches healthy boundaries.

9. Don’t joke about someone’s insecurities
What feels funny to you may quietly damage someone’s confidence for years.

10. Forgive mistakes, but don’t ignore harmful patterns
Boundaries are not cruelty. Sometimes protecting peace is an act of love too.

11. Celebrate small moments together
Birthdays, little wins, peaceful dinners, or simply surviving a difficult week—these moments matter more than people realize.

12. Never let pride become more important than peace
A sincere apology can save relationships that ego slowly destroys.

13. Speak kindly inside your home
The outside world is already harsh enough. Family should be the place where people feel safest emotionally.

A strong family is not built through perfection…
but through respect, patience, understanding, and love repeated daily.

Children are not at home to be served — they are there to learn how to live.

Helping with household chores is not punishment,
it is not exploitation,
and it is not “taking away their childhood.”

It is preparing them for real life — the kind of life that does not forgive people who are messy,
dirty,
or who believe someone else will always pick up after them.

A child who does not clean their room today
may become an adult who cannot organize their life tomorrow.

A child who never learns to clean
may grow into someone who expects others to do what is their own responsibility.

A home does not maintain itself.
Order does not appear by magic.
Cleanliness is not only the responsibility of Mom or Dad.

It is the responsibility of everyone who lives there.

Teaching children to be organized and clean
is not just teaching them how to sweep or wash a plate,
it is teaching them discipline, respect, and gratitude.

Respect for the home they have.
Gratitude for those who work hard so they lack nothing.

A child who learns to help
learns to appreciate.

A child who keeps their space clean
learns to take care of themselves.

And a young person who understands the value of order
is more likely to build a stable life.

You are not taking away their comfort,
you are giving them tools for life.

You are not making them suffer,
you are making them responsible.

Because the day they step out into the world,
no one will pick up their clothes,
no one will clean up their mess,
no one will organize their life for them.

And then,
only then,
they will understand that helping at home
was one of the best lessons they could ever receive.
