Here is what actually happens when we resurface your pool, from empty to ready for water.

This pool and spa are finished and waiting to be refilled. Getting there follows the same steps on every job.

First, the pool is emptied and we check the existing surface so we know what we are working with before anything is applied.

Next, we clean and prepare the existing surface. Good preparation is what gives the new layers a sound base to bond to.

Then we apply a new seamless fibreglass and gelcoat membrane that bonds to the existing surface, forming a new internal shell. We finish neatly around lights, returns, skimmer boxes and spa jets so there are no rough edges or joins.

Once the gelcoat has cured, the pool is refilled and the water can be balanced, ready to swim.

Fibreglass pool resurfacing is a specialist skill that very few people in Australia can do well. There's no TAFE course for it. The skills are passed on by the people who do the work, and our family has been doing it since the 1960s.

We're looking for people who want to learn it with us:

• Labourers and trade assistants. No experience needed.
• Trainees ready to learn the full process, from preparation to the final gelcoat.
• Experienced tradespeople: fibreglass laminators, boat builders, spray painters, pool builders, tilers and concreters.

Based in Mornington, with work across Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, regional Victoria and interstate. Full-time, part-time and casual applications are welcome.

Want your pool smooth and ready for summer? Spring is the time to book your resurfacing.

Most people start thinking about the pool when the first hot weekend arrives. By then, spots before Christmas are much harder to get.

Resurfacing depends on the weather, and the pool has to be emptied, prepared, coated and refilled before you can swim again. Booking in spring gives you the best chance of having it finished and back in use for the warmer months.

We clean and prepare the existing surface, then apply a new seamless fibreglass and gelcoat membrane that bonds to it, forming a new internal shell. It is smooth underfoot, has no joins for algae to settle into, and is easier to keep clean through summer.
