At that point, I was working as a graphic artist in a large advertising agency. Deep down, I knew it wasn’t the path that would lead to the future I wanted for us both.

Little did I know that less than 48 hours later, on the island of Mykonos, a casual conversation would completely alter my trajectory.

Not long after disembarking our ferry from Santorini, I met a business owner from the Gold Coast whilst at the port. When I asked what he did, he told me he owned a commercial cleaning company back home. My immediate question was: “How are you here on the other side of the world?”

He explained that he had an operations manager handling the contracts, allowing him, as the business owner, to focus on business development and growth.

In that instant, something clicked. I turned to my wife and said: “When we get back, I want to start a cleaning company.”

To her immense credit, she didn’t scoff or dismiss the idea. She simply said: “I think you’d be great at it.”

Looking back now, I know many people might have rolled their eyes at the notion of starting a cleaning business. There’s nothing overtly glamorous or romantic about it. If built the right way, it’s a business that’s scalable, resilient, and can create real freedom. Sharper Facility Services now puts food on the table for many people.

That photo of me in the pool isn’t just a holiday snap. It marks a turning point; from feeling lost, to having full certainly of what my future would be.

And now, standing here again in Santorini, years later, this time with my family beside me, I’m reminded how a single conversation, a single moment of courage, and the unwavering support of someone you love can completely transform your future.

For anyone questioning whether it’s time to take the leap: sometimes the path to your future finds you in the most unexpected places.

Swanston Central is a 71 level residential tower including the two storey refurbished heritage listed former Carlton United Breweries building in the centre of Melbourne’s CBD.

Made up of 1,045 residential apartments, 2,500 square metres of retail space over podium levels and a 345 square metre office space on level 22. It features a landscaped common area plaza that provides access to nearby streets with a mixture of retail and shops at Ground and Level 1. Resident facilities include a lap pool, two spas, sauna, steam room and four cabana areas.

Completed in 3 stages, Sharper was able to deliver impeccable cleaning services whilst the development remained a building site. We're privileged to continue our services to date.
