💡 Winter Pest Fact! ❄️
Many people think pests disappear during winter—but that’s not the case in South East Queensland.
Our winter months (June, July and August) are generally mild, so while some pests become less active, they don’t simply vanish.
🐛 Termites remain active all year because they live underground and inside timber, where temperatures stay relatively stable.
🐜 Ants continue to forage, especially on warmer winter days.
🪳 Cockroaches often move indoors in search of warmth, food and moisture.
🐀 Rats and mice are more likely to seek shelter in homes, garages and sheds during cooler weather.
Winter is often a great time for preventative pest management, as lower pest numbers can make it easier to reduce populations before activity increases again in spring.
Keeping your home free of excess moisture, sealing entry points and maintaining regular termite inspections are simple steps that can help protect your property all year round.
A quieter winter doesn’t always mean a pest-free home!
