Algae in your pool is a plant and should be treated just like a w**d. Consider how killing w**ds in your yard is done. Some treatments attack the outside of the plants, but that doesn't always kill them. Others attack from the inside out and deliver a more permanent result.

In your pool, chlorine can kill algae, but it's sometimes not enough. The best defence against algae is a preventative approach using both chlorine and algaecide.
