Hot Shots Feral and Pest Solutions has tailored its business model to address the challenges arising from newly introduced legislative changes.

Whilst organisations, farmers and land owners acclimate to these new regulations, we have effectively adapted and are bracing for a busier-than-normal summer, with a surge in regional contracts.

These new restrictive challenges, which have resulted in reduced access and control options for land owners, have led to a population increase of vertebrate feral and pest species across our state.

Rabbits, foxes and pest species recently encountered exhibited remarkable health and were well-fed, whilst the same could not be said for the crops that have been feeding these feral and pest herbivores.

Feral pigeons persist as a significant nuisance in towns and farm sheds, with their excrement posing corrosive and health risks. In towns, these birds need to be controlled by professionals as the locations are not being registered on the portal.

We have designated specialized teams to combat these feral and pest issues.

So please contact us for assistance and to discuss your options.

In response to the new Act and associated legislation, Hot Shots Feral and Pest Solutions has adapted our operations to address these new challenges.

If you are a landowner not registered on the portal or with properties under 5 acres, and are experiencing issues with feral and pest species that you are unable to address yourself, we can provide assistance!

Please reach out to us to explore your available options.

Hot Shots Feral and Pest Solutions is gearing up for a busier than normal winter, with more regional contracts coming in.

Whilst Covid and its hurdles slowed teams getting out in the field over the past 12 months, we are now ramping up our projects and will not be hibernating as is usual this time of year.

Rabbits populations have exploded across the wheatbelt and all the foxes we recently encountered were very healthy and well fed (past tense).

Feral pigeons are still a big nuisance about towns and farm sheds. Their excrement in quantity is corrosive, not to mention the health risks associated with it and their presence in confined areas.

We now have specialized teams allocated to combat these feral pest issues.

On this note, we need more reliable and safety conscious firearm owners to join our pool of professional operators. Training, supervision and proficiency testing will be provided by the executive in a supportive team culture.

The days are fine and the nights very cold but it is great to spend a few nights in the bush doing what we do. What makes it even better is our great team.

18/10/2021

With the issues of Covid now behind us and the future norm, we are back out in the field doing what we do best... assisting farmers and regional organizations with feral and pest animal management.

Crops in the wheatbelt are looking great and by all counts it will be a good harvest.

So if you see our teams out in the bush, feel free to approach us and have a chat about how we can assist you!

A reminder of the destruction just one feral cat can bring. According to the federal environment department they threaten the survival of more than 100 native species in Australia.

10/12/2020

We had two teams out in the wheatbelt a fortnight ago and both reported higher than usual numbers of fox pups out. Every fox engaged was dispatched as were the rabbits which have also boomed in numbers over the last 8 months.

Due to COVID movement restrictions many properties about the state received little to no active control efforts by any group. Now with greater team access we, like other management organisations, will be out applying pressure on the feral and pest species.

The downside is that our operators will be expending more ammunition than usual in a time where we have incurred up to a 50% price hikes on ammunition costs.

This just shows everyone’s dedication to the services which we perform, all of which are at our own out of pocket costs for the benefit of farmers and the environment.

We will keep you updated on out progress.

I was in the region when I saw a message from a friend advising that a station is experiencing a high level of feral dog presence and is losing more stock than usual as a result. I headed out there yesterday to do a reconnaissance of the area.

The station owners in Yalgoo and Mount Magnet shires are being hit hard by feral dogs and dingos.

Hot Shots Feral and Pest Solutions will be mobilising teams to assist and maintain ongoing pressure to reduce dog numbers in the area.

The regional landscape is beautiful yet unforgiving, so we will provide all our own gear, water and fuel to support our initiative with the properties most affected.

With the movement restrictions here in Western Australia, due to Covid-19, almost abated it will soon be back to normal, this will see our teams out in the wheatbelt shortly and in force cleaning up the feral pests.

Hot Shots Feral and Pest Solutions in conjunction with a local farmer are now able to assist with multi calibre property letters for .177 air rifles, .22lr, .22mag and 12 gauge shotgun calibre fi****ms for use on a 125 acre property for $165.00 (GST inclusive).

To get started, just email us your info (full name and mobile number) to: [email protected] and we'll reply to you with all the necessary details.

Please note: This property will justify larger heavier short range calibres with a little justification at time of licensing i.e. .22H, .44Mag, .357Mag and .30/30 rifles. It is not an automatic justification as it would be with the air and rimfire calibres listed above.

In addition we will extend to our property letter purchasers invitations to attend supervised shoots on the property and we will provide all new comers to the disciplines, respective practical firearm awareness, maintenance and proficiency training.

Through other sources we can put you in touch with larger calibre property letter opportunities, though the above benefits may not apply.

We also provide regular assessments for Fauna Taking (Commercial Products) License - Kangaroo Fi****ms Competency (MARKSMANSHIP) Tests. These are run north and south of Perth on a regular monthly basis. We offer discounts on group bookings.

Put simply, we don't believe that there are bad shooters, just poorly trained ones. Our goal is to help rectify this and positively promote safe firearm disciplines to all.

Just last week a small group of our operators were out in the field testing out our new clay pigeon throwers after enduring the winter and covid hibernation.

We ensure our operators hone their skills and maintain their equipment before embarking on our management projects. This way we can be an effective resource to farmers and rural organizations. Besides being unprofessional, there is no room for constant practice in the field. The difference is we are a business and not a hunting club!
