📢 PLACES OF REFUGE NOW OPEN 📢
Following overnight storms related to ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, the following Places of Refuge in Ipswich have been opened:
📍 Ipswich Showgrounds, 81 Warwick Road, Ipswich (enter via Parker Avenue)
📍 Shiloh Church, 72 Redbank Plains Road, Goodna
📍 Rosewood State High School, 46 Lanefield Road. Rosewood
A Place of Refuge provides short-term shelter and toilets, as well as power to charge mobile devices, but no other services.
We ask people coming to the centres to please bring necessities such as non-perishable food and water if possible, as well as personal aids such as chairs and walkers, plus baby products and food where necessary.
Bedding, food and cooking facilities, medications and toiletries are NOT available at the centres.
If you are travelling to the centres, please take care on the roads and drive to the conditions.
Residents not at immediate risk of the impacts of the weather system are asked to stay home until further notice.
Council continues to monitor weather conditions.
