Today I had someone call asking for our prices.
When I explained our pricing, the response was, “THAT IS WAY TOO MUCH!”
She went on to tell me her house “wasn’t that bad” because there was no mud, and that her last cleaner only charged $35 an hour.
I replied, “We pay our cleaners more than that because they deserve it. Cleaning isn’t an easy job.”
Her response?
“What’s so hard about cleaning?”
That question says everything.
Professional cleaning isn’t just wiping benches and vacuuming floors. It’s working to a high standard, managing time efficiently, using the right products safely, understanding different surfaces, preventing damage, problem-solving, working in heat, bending, kneeling, lifting, and paying attention to hundreds of small details that most people never notice—until they’re missed.
Quality cleaning is skilled work.
One of the biggest challenges in our industry is that many business owners undervalue themselves. They charge so little that it becomes difficult to pay fair wages, invest in quality equipment, provide training, carry insurance, and build a sustainable business.
A low price doesn’t make cleaning less valuable. It often just means someone, somewhere, isn’t being paid what their work is worth.
Our team deserves fair pay for the work they do, and our clients deserve a professional service they can rely on.
We won’t apologise for charging what it takes to deliver both.
