🌟 PUBLIC STATEMENT - Hervey Bay Carols by Candlelight 2024 🌟

After carefully reviewing the weekend weather forecast, which predicts possible storms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds, we’ve made the tough decision to move this year’s Hervey Bay Carols by Candlelight to a new indoor venue so we can continue in some form.

🎶 New Location: Hervey Bay Baptist Church, Nikenbah
🎟 Two Shows at 4:00pm & 6:30pm so we can have as many people as possible.

We’ve worked hard to keep the event as close as possible to what we had planned. Both shows will feature the same amazing program, the same high-quality production gear, and of course, all the Christmas spirit you love! Plus, there will still be some food vendors, drink & dessert vendors and candles to purchase. There is parking onsite but we encourage you to carpool where possible. We encourage you to arrive 45 minutes before your showtime to support the vendors and the doors to the auditorium will then open 30 minutes before the showtime.

This decision wasn’t made lightly, but the safety of our community and crew is our top priority. We’re excited to still bring you an incredible Carols experience in a safe and cozy indoor setting.

🎄 Let’s come together and celebrate the season with music, laughter, and joy! The Active Agents Fireworks will also still go ahead at the new location after the 6:30pm Show.

If you’ve already made plans to attend, be sure to grab your tickets now as seats are limited to 1,000 per show. The 6:30pm Show will be live streamed, more information to follow.

Some of the improvements at Gatakers Bay Area

Council is currently consulting on the design of an upgrade to the intersection of Old Maryborough Road and Tooth Street in Pialba.

The current draft design (pictured) aims to make the intersection as safe as possible for pedestrians and cyclists to cross, whilst ensuring a steady flow of traffic (and a much needed improvement to right turns out of Tooth Street at peak times).

Council has written to nearby residents and businesses to inform them of the proposed works.

Interested members of the public can also provide feedback via submission to [email protected] by 27 September 2024.

Once the submissions are received, Council will consider the feedback and finalise the design layout for the intersection.

Exciting News for Point Vernon Residents!

Cr Lachlan Cosgrove is stepping up to address long-standing concerns about the Point Vernon Foreshore! With unanimous support from the Council, there's hope for a brighter future for this beloved area. A special report will soon be reviewed, focusing on improving open space maintenance and possibly redesignating this area as a high-profile zone. The Point Vernon Foreshore Enhancement Group is also rallying support with a petition to ensure the Council meets the community's needs.
