Todays job - reseeding a treatment plant with some activated sludge.

Reseeding a treatment plant basically means reintroducing the "good bacteria" that do the work of breaking down waste.
Its needed when the biology in the system has been weakened or wiped out (often from chemicals. low usage, overload or a system upset.

Sullage tanks should be pumped out annually, to prevent sludge build up in the bottom of the tank, this causes unpleasant odours & can shorten the life of your pump.

**GREASE TRAPS** - Are you looking after what you have??

Grease traps are designed to collect all waste from your kitchen sink/dishwasher. Wastes include grease/fat & food scraps.

The cleaner water is drained off either to the Sullage tank or out to Sullage trenches.

The waste matter that is collected in your grease trap must be manually cleaned out on a regular basis. Regular cleaning will keep this waste out of the trenches.

If a trench requires a clean out, it is expensive & may not always be effective. New laws now state that trenches can no longer be replaced. Which means big and unexpected costs to the homeowner - as a new treatment system will have to be installed.

Grease traps should have a thorough clean every 3-6 months to prevent any of these problems.

During wet weather periods ( like we have lately) we are having to run extra hose lengths. We can run up to 50 meters if we have to. This allows us to stay off the grass & not make a mess in your yard.

We are not just limited to Septic Work here at Hervey Bay Liquid Waste. We also carry out sewer works - Whether it be cleaning of sewage pump stations or conducting flow control for works to be carried out.
In this case a customer had their sinks & toilets backing up.
After a quick inspection we found a sewer line blockage.
Gave it a pump out and cleared the line - problem solved.😁
