Always support locals 🦋💗
Turns out this month is "Small Business Month". Maybe another government incentive so it looks like it is 'ticking boxes' and 'caring about the little guys' (sorry, I said it and I am happy to be wrong) BUT hits different when you actually look at the numbers… and WE be the difference in our actions. So let's not virtual signal but be the hands and feet.
In Gympie alone, we have around 6,000+ businesses, and over 95% of them are SMALL, family-run, heart-led businesses.
Now imagine this…
If just 1,000 of us chose to spend $20 a day supporting local 👇 (that's only 5% of our population)
$20,000 a day
$7.3 MILLION a year back into our community
Let that sink in.
Even if that was spread across just 500 small businesses…
That’s over $14,000 per business, per year.
That’s groceries on the table
That’s school fees covered
That’s a business staying open during the quiet months
That’s less pressure on a family just trying to make it work
Small business isn’t just “shopping local”
It’s:
families backing themselves
mums working around school hours
locals employing locals
real people building something from the ground up
And here’s the thing…
When small businesses grow:
they buy more locally
they hire more locals
they reinvest back into our community
That $20 doesn’t stop in one place... it ripples.
Yes, big businesses matter too, people we love work there.
But small business?
They are the hands and feet of our community, the doers, the sponsors of community events.
So this month (and honestly, every month)
choose local where you can. If 1000 people who don't usually spend local - did! Well... you now know the impact.
Your $20 into local, small business makes a huge difference 🤍
