A few months ago, the Foundation became aware that a person/organisation overseas was exploiting Daniel’s name to drive traffic to a website that contained adult pornographic material.

Bruce and Denise were devastated that Daniel’s name was being used for this purpose and reached out to our friends at Argos to assist us.

Today we received the brilliant news that through a joint collaboration between eSafety and Interpol, this has been resolved and Daniel’s name is no longer being exploited in this way. It was no easy task and took months of negotiations, hard work and a collaboration between numerous agencies both within Australia and internationally.

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to Toby Dagg, Executive Manager of Investigations at eSafety Commissioner, the team at INTERPOL HQ,Detective Inspector Glen Donaldson from Argos Queensland Police Service, Detective Inspector Jon Rouse, and the team at Australian Federal Police, the Prime Minister’s National Office of Child Safety, the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications, the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the relevant Australian Ambassadors and Embassy Officials, all Australian Government agencies involved; and Butler McDermott Lawyers

These people, agencies and teams all pulled together and did everything they could to protect Daniel’s legacy and diplomatically resolve the issue.

It is truly uplifting to know that Daniel remains in the hearts and thoughts of officers and officials, worldwide, who will move mountains to protect his legacy.

KEEP IT SIMPLE: CONCENTRATE ON THE 80/20 RULE

There is a rule called Pareto’s Principle, which is:

80% of results come from 20% of effort.

This can apply to your cleaning as well. Find the 20% of tasks in your home that create the 80% results and do these first. If nothing else gets done that week then so be it….Give yourself a break! If you strive for perfect then it will never be finished.

Also, something to consider is getting a professional cleaner on a weekly basis. It will be the best investment in your mental health you will ever make. It's affordable and it makes good sense.

Simple trick for cleaning floors

A simple dry mop technique to keep tile floors looking fresh: Mix 250mls of vinegar with ½ litre of warm water into a spray bottle with 1 drop of dish soap. Spray the floor one section at a time and wipe with a damp microfiber mop as you go. You will be amazed at how clean your floors will look!

Cleaning and Allergies

• Vacuum twice weekly. Make sure your vacuum has a good filter. Some allergens are so small that they pass right through a regular vacuum filter.
• Wear a mask when you clean. And when you're done with your housework, leave the house for a few hours. It will limit your exposure to allergens you kicked up into the air.
• Keep the bathroom free of mould. Scrub the tile regularly. Don't forget the shower curtain, too. You may be able to toss it in the washing machine.
• Wash sheets weekly in hot water. Make sure it's at least 50°C
• That's hot enough to kill dust mites If your child has allergies, do the same with any washable stuffed animals.
• Don't use scented cleaners or detergents. If you have allergies, the fragrances in cleaners can trigger symptoms.
• Don't air-dry laundry. Clothing left outside will pick up pollen and mould. Use the clothes dryer instead.
• Use a damp cloth and mop when cleaning. They'll trap allergens instead of knocking them into the air.
• Don't shampoo carpets. The leftover moisture could cause mold growth or increase dust mites.

3 Simple Cleaning Tips to Live by:

Start with dusting your home: This will ensure that all the particles fall down from higher surfaces so you can clean them at a later stage.

Clean from the top to bottom: Just like the first tip, this will allow the dust and dirt particles to fall down to surfaces before you clean them.

Clean from the left to right: Working from the left to right ensures that you don’t accidentally miss an area or mistakenly clean the same area twice.

Cleaning Products (as recommended by Qld Health)

Cleaning of hard surfaces should be done using either:

1 - Cleaning and disinfection procedure in two steps:
first clean with a detergent, then follow with a disinfectant listed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) with specific claims against COVID-19 or a 1:1,000PPM sodium hypochlorite solution.

2 - 2-in-1 step process:
use a product that cleans and disinfects at the same time. Any hospital-grade TGA-listed disinfectant that has specific claims against COVID-19 is suitable if used according to manufacturer’s instructions.

• Disinfectant solutions should be made fresh daily and gloves should be worn when handling and preparing solutions.
• Cleaning equipment, including mop heads and cloths, should be laundered in hot water and completely dried before reuse. Cleaning buckets should be emptied and cleaned with a new batch of cleaning and/or disinfectant solution and allowed to dry completely before reuse.

FREE WINDOW CLEANING TIPS.

As a professional cleaning company, we know how frustrating it can be to get windows sparkling clean. We have included some window cleaning tips below to help make your cleaning routine just a little easier,

1. Avoid using glass cleaners that are based in ammonia or alcohol. They may seem like they’d produce a more intense clean, but in reality, they can leave streaks and even a thin film that attracts dust and moisture.

2. If you have an especially difficult spot, you can start your cleaning process by applying a solvent like acetone or rubbing alcohol to a clean cloth and rubbing it directly on the spot. Wipe it dry and then continue to clean your window as you would normally.

3. Use a soft, lint-free wipe when rubbing the solution. A microfiber cloth is ideal but a gentle and clean paper towel can work as well. Rub from multiple directions to help avoid streaking.

4. If you find that you still have streaks after you’ve cleaned your window, simply rinse with clear water to help remove any of the remaining cleaning solution.

With the warmer weather approaching, now is a great time to clean your air-conditioner units and fans. Not only does it help the unit work more efficiently (and save power) it's also really good for your health.

It's important to clean your air-con to maintain good air quality in your home. Filters inside air conditioners are designed to catch dust (and sometimes other pollutants such as pollen and bacteria), but if not cleaned regularly they can clog up and collect moisture and even mould. So not having a clean aircon unit means you are breathing in all these pollutants.
