Good Friday rubbish collection, now on Saturday.

The Meru Waste Facility will be closed on Friday 3 April 2026.

The Bowerbird will be closed from Friday 3 April to Tuesday 7 April, reopening on Wednesday 8 April 2026.

Collection of 240L municipal garbage bins on residential and commercial premises for the City of Greater Geraldton are as follows:

UPDATE: 📍 Rubbish collection from Friday 27 March has been rescheduled take place on Sunday 29 March 2026.

𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵

✅ Rubbish will be collected as scheduled.

The City understands strong winds may cause bins to tip or rubbish to blow around. Should residents choose to keep their bin inside today due to weather conditions, the City will make alternative arrangements for collection next week once weather conditions have improved.

Heads up everyone, unfortunately there are delays in rubbish collection occurring.

The City’s waste contractor is expecting that all bins will be collected this week.

To ensure rubbish is collected, residents are requested to leave their bins by the kerb.

We appreciate your patience during these delays. 🙂

If you are wondering why your bin is getting emptied later than usual?
Cleenaway used to start at 5am, as they have done for the last 35yrs. Now the council has recently told them, they have to begin work after 7am, due to a couple of noise complaints.
This automatically puts them 2 hours behind schedule, without taking into consideration truck breakdowns, driver shortages. Interacting with traffic & pedestrians on busy roads including the CBD, mid morning and school pick-up in the afternoon etc. which still puts them further behind schedule.
This Stupid council decision has caused a major inconvenience to cleenaway truck drivers, our business and Geraldton ratepayers.
