Above and Beyond Pest Control

Above and Beyond Pest Control Servicing Geelong and the Surfcoast, Melbourne and Ballarat. Above and Beyond Pest Control aims to do exactly as our name states. Try us, and see the difference.

We are a professional business, and we don't cut corners. We believe integrity and honesty is the basis of a strong bond of trust within the community, and we won't bring anything less to the table. We wouldn't trust our home and family with anything mediocre, why should you? We are a locally owned and operated business, and you can rest assured knowing from the very first phone call through to tr

eatment, you will only deal with a pest control technician. We are proud of our maxim, and have a unique background and skill set to expand on standard Pest Management. Chris is also a qualified Bricklayer, and has been in the building industry for 20 years. With a farming background, he brings a capable and honest practicality into the equation. Cassie has a history in hospitality and retail, and knows how important customer service is. We saw a void in the Geelong region for a female pest control technician, so we filled it! We strongly believe that Integrated Pest Management is the key to successful control. This means a chemical application is not the only option to solve your pest problem. The technical definition is: an ecosystem-based strategy that focuses on long-term prevention of pests or their damage through a combination of techniques such as biological control, habitat manipulation, modification of cultural practices, and use of resistant varieties.

Some critters are a pest tech's colleague!

This sleepy Blue Tongue Skink (Tiliqua scincoides) was basking in the middle of the road, and refused to shift his preferred sunbathing spot to a safer area even with cars zooming by.

They are great companion critters in your yard! Blue tongues see your beetles, crickets and caterpillars as a tasty treat, and are especially known to love eating snails.

They have been known to cause this pest tech to jump back 3 or 4 feet when unexpectedly encountered, as those stripes and scales are reminiscent of our Tiger snakes when first sighted πŸ˜†

So if you're lucky enough to have a full-time, onsite reptilian pest tech, let them go about their business freely. They'll help with the critters you don't want around!

Shoot us a message on Facebook if you need anything handled on your Blue Tongue's RDO.

The rodent season is upon us!
The last two weeks have seen us manage a 65% increase in rodent calls than January.
However, as always, I want to balance a 'pest' profile with a heart-warming non-pest-rodent cutie patootie.
Meet, the Rakali 😊
I'm a sucker for a Rakali picture and will follow the comment thread on this post with joy.

It's that time of year for bee swarms to be spotted again 🐝🐝🐝

Please don't panic if you see a swarm clumped up and resting somewhere. They are very uninclined to sting, and are simply looking for a new home to move into. They should not ever be destroyed.

It's important to have a bee swarm collected, or they can potentially end up inside a wall in a house, or a tree hollow our possums and birds should be using for harbourage. Once inside a wall, they are much harder and more expensive to remove, and many people will choose to destroy them instead.

We offer swarm collections! Send a message to the page or give us a call to find out more.

~Awful photography skills credit goes to Chris, who has never taken a flattering photo of me πŸ˜†~

What a crazy few months Victoria has been living through!

Some of you are aware we have been offering urgent and selected services only. Although the government restrictions still allowed for pest control to operate, we felt it was socially irresponsible to be in and out of up to 8 homes every day.

Our Covid numbers are looking much better, and we are planning on offering all of our services again from next week, commencing Monday 14th September.

We thank you all for your understanding and patience while we navigated the last few months! There will be some adjustments to our treatment procedures, keeping you and your family, and ourselves safe.

If you would like to make a booking, give us a call on 0477010370, or email [email protected]

Did you know today is ?

Here's a little bee-bum for your viewing pleasure!

Australia is home to around 2000 species of native bees, and the vast majority of them are solitary species.

This little beauty was heard before she was seen, they have a distinct buzz that I think sets them apart.

This photo was taken in a customers yard in Newtown, and her salvia plants were filled with them!

🐝 It's BEE season! 🐝🐝🐝

As the weather becomes warmer, bee hives start swarming. A new queen will take around half of the existing colony with her to setup shop in new digs.

If you see a swarm, don't panic! They will have a belly full of honey, and are very docile. A swarm may rest as they scout out a new location to start building, and are commonly spotted on tree branches or fence posts.
Steer clear of them, and give us a call.

We are firm believers of the importance of bees, and don't consider a swarm a 'pest' that needs to be destroyed.
No bees = no pollination = no food.

Instead we try wherever possible to capture the swarm and re-hive them instead.

The pics below are from a swarm we captured in Belmont yesterday afternoon. With no empty hives available to take, and a larger than expected swarm, a MacGuyver moment with a plastic storage tub was required.

This was a pretty big swarm, estimated between 8 - 10k bees!

If you have bees, we have options beyond killing them.

One of my favourite pages to follow on the book of faces is She's got Legs - Australian Spider and Insect Photography. Caitlin has a brilliant sense of humor, and is a stellar photographer of creepy crawlies. Check out her work!

If her spider proofing tips haven't helped the situation, give us a call to book your treatment in.

September through to November are excellent times to book an annual spray, it ensures a great level of protection over the warmer months.

Our spider treatments are safe around families and pets, and I'm happy to answer any questions you have about the process.

Sparrows never cease to amaze me! They are such industrious little birds, and will return to the same nesting location each year.

This particular nest has my size 5 boot sitting on top for scale. Six garbage bags were filled with nesting material, from just this one nest.

Pest birds nesting in roof and wall cavities attract rodents, and are also a fire risk.
Note the nesting material built up around one of the light fittings here!
Once the chicks leave the nest, bird mites left behind can migrate down into the living spaces of your home.
Birds and their doppings also run the risk of over 60 transmittable diseases and infections, including salmonella and hiptoplasmosis.

We can remove birds and nests in your roof, and proof the entry points against future incursions.

An initial appointment for an inspection and quote is free of charge.

Call us on 0477 010 370 to secure your appointment.

Swarming bees are generally quite docile if left alone, but our recommendation is always to steer clear of them. They are very common during the lead up to summer, and over the last week we're fielding 7 or 8 enquiries a day.

We are one of the few pest control companies that will suggest an apiarist capture a swarm rather than destroy them. Bee populations are essential for pollination of our food supply, so we wherever we can 🐝🐝🐝

However, a bee hive that has set up shop inside a roof or wall cavity is usually unable to be relocated. An apiarist will recommend the hive be destroyed.

We offer a same-day service for bee treatments, and don't apply a surcharge to our fee of a weekend either.

If you require our services give us a call on 0477010370.
