Solutions for Removing Tough Stains Like Grease or Algae
Boat stains are inevitable, but they don’t have to be permanent. With the right approach, you can tackle tough spots like grease and algae to keep your vessel in top shape.

1. Degreasing Made Easy:
Engine oil and grease can cling to surfaces, but a marine-specific degreaser is your best ally. Spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes, and scrub gently with a soft brush before rinsing thoroughly. Warm water can help loosen stubborn spots for better results.

2. Algae No More:
Algae build-up is a common challenge, especially along the waterline. Use a biodegradable algae cleaner designed for marine use, and scrub with a medium-bristle brush in circular motions. To prevent future growth, apply a protective wax or antifouling coating after cleaning.

3. Eco-Friendly Remedies:
For lighter stains, household solutions like baking soda mixed with water can work wonders. This gentle paste is perfect for non-slip decks or seats. For streaks on stainless steel, a 50:50 vinegar-water spray can help dissolve grime and restore shine.

4. Professional Touch:
For larger or more stubborn stains, pressure washing is an effective option, but use low pressure to protect sensitive surfaces.

At Ami Marine, we specialize in tough stain removal, offering professional detailing services to keep your boat spotless and protected. Trust us to handle the grime so you can enjoy the shine! 🚤✨

Same boat, just had a proper glow-up… no mucking about.

Before was givin’ off strong “yeah nah, it’s fine” energy — dull patches, grime hangin’ on, and that tired look you only notice once the sun hits it just right. Still floatin’, still workin’… just not exactly turnin’ heads.

Then it copped the Ami Marine treatment. Proper clean, polish dialled in, and now it’s shinier than your mate’s forehead after one too many beers. Gloss back, lines crisp, and lookin’ flash enough to make the boat next door feel a bit insecure.

No shortcuts, no half-arsed wipe-downs — just a clean that actually lasts.
Ami Marine — because if you’re gonna own a boat, it may as well look bloody mint 🇦🇺⚓️🍻

From tired old timbers to fair dinkum fancy.✨

What you’re seeing here isn’t just a “quick clean.” It’s a proper restoration of look, feel and longevity.

Decking — whether it’s teak or synthetic — cops an absolute hiding. UV exposure, salt spray, fish blood, sunscreen, dirt from the ramp… it all settles into the grain and seams. Over time it goes dull, patchy and lifeless. Most people think that’s just “how it ages.”

Not quite.

At Ami Marine, we deep clean decking using marine-safe processes designed to lift embedded grime without damaging fibres or softening adhesives. No aggressive pressure washing that chews up the surface. No harsh chemicals that dry it out and cause premature cracking. Just controlled, methodical cleaning that restores colour and contrast properly.

Notice the definition in the lines after? That crisp separation doesn’t happen by accident. It’s detail work — seam by seam, edge by edge — removing the build-up that makes decks look flat and tired.

And it’s not just about looks. Clean decking improves grip, reduces long-term staining and helps the material last longer. That’s money saved down the track.

Anyone can rinse a deck.
We bring it back to life.

Ami Marine — fair dinkum finish, every time.

Another boat saved from the “near enough” pile. ⚓

Too many boats get the “that’ll do” treatment — quick rinse, splash of soap, and back on the trailer. Over time that shortcut cleaning leaves behind salt, mineral stains, oxidation and grime that slowly dull the gelcoat and make a boat look older than it really is.

What looks like permanent wear is often just years of buildup.

At Ami Marine we tackle the root of the problem first. Hulls are properly decontaminated to remove salt crystals, rust bleed and environmental grime that sit deep in the gelcoat. These contaminants don’t just make the boat look tired — they actually accelerate staining and surface breakdown if left untreated.

Once the contamination is lifted, the hull can breathe again. The original colour comes back, the surface smooths out, and the finish starts reflecting light the way it was designed to. It’s not about masking the problem — it’s about restoring the surface properly.

This is why attention to detail matters. The difference between a “near enough” clean and a proper marine detail can be years of life for your boat’s finish.

Because boats don’t need replacing as often as people think.
Most of the time… they just need the right care.

Ami Marine — bringing boats back from the “she’ll be right” category. ⚓✨

This deck’s cleaner than your thongs after mum finds them. 😆🧼

Boat decks take a beating most people don’t notice until the stains start setting in. Rust marks from fittings, salt crystals building up around drains, grime settling into corners where water sits. Leave it long enough and it starts looking permanent.

But most of the time, it isn’t.

At Ami Marine we treat gelcoat like it should be treated — carefully and properly. Rust stains are removed with marine-safe decontamination products designed to dissolve oxidation without damaging the surface. Salt and mineral buildup is broken down instead of just blasted around with a pressure washer. Drains, hatches and hardware mounts are cleaned by hand so the grime hiding in the edges actually comes out.

A lot of stains people think are “just part of owning a boat” are actually preventable buildup. Salt is incredibly aggressive — when it dries, it leaves crystals that slowly eat away at fittings and stain surrounding surfaces. Regular proper cleaning removes that before it becomes a bigger problem.

That’s why we focus on the details most people miss. The small corners. The hardware bases. The drains. The edges around access hatches. When those areas are properly cleaned, the whole deck looks brand new again.

It’s not magic.
It’s just doing the job properly.

Ami Marine — proper clean, no shortcuts. ⚓

Happy Labour Day 🇦🇺⚓️

Today we celebrate every hardworking legend out there — especially those in the boating and marine industry.

From detailers and mechanics to skippers, shipwrights, marina crews, and tradies keeping everything afloat — it’s the early mornings, sunburnt necks, salty hands, and long days that keep this industry moving.

Boats don’t maintain themselves. Harbours don’t run on their own. It’s the workers behind the scenes who make it all happen.

Here’s to you. Enjoy the well-earned break.

From salt-sprayed and second-hand…
To skipper-ready and showroom sharp. ⚓✨

The helm is the heart of the boat — and it shows every bit of neglect. Salt haze on the screens, grime around switches, buildup in the steering wheel spokes, dust settling into every seam and corner. It might still run fine… but it doesn’t feel fine.

This is where proper detailing makes the difference.

At Ami Marine, we don’t just wipe surfaces and call it a day. We carefully clean around electronics using the right marine-safe products — no overspray, no flooding sensitive panels, no harsh chemicals that damage screens or rubber seals. Every switch, dial and throttle control is individually detailed. Stainless is polished properly. Non-skid underfoot is deep cleaned so it looks fresh and grips the way it should.

It’s about precision.

We get into the tight edges where salt crystals hide. We remove the film that dulls white gelcoat. We restore clarity to screens so they’re crisp in the sun again. Because when you step up to the helm, it should feel sharp, clean and ready — not sticky, dusty or tired.

A clean helm isn’t just cosmetic. Salt left sitting around electronics can shorten lifespan. Grime around controls can lead to wear. Preventative detailing protects your investment and keeps everything functioning the way it was designed to.

Anyone can drive it.
We make it feel brand new again.
