🏖️ Heading to K'gari (formerly Fraser Island) these school holidays? 📅
Parents and carers are reminded to be extra vigilant to keep kids and teenagers safe from wongari (dingo).
Wongari roam freely across the island, often blending in with the sand dunes where they can go unnoticed. Their movements are unpredictable, and they can appear suddenly, moving at speeds of up to 60km/hour! ⚠️🏃♀️💨
🤲 That's why it's important to keep kids within arm's reach, whether you're on the shore or at the water's edge. 👪🌊
🙅♂️ Remind kids not to run, jump, or clap as it can excite the wongari and trigger their chasing instincts.
🌿 When you’re out and about on K’gari, take a safety stick with you (such as a walking stick, hiking pole, fishing rod, or large umbrella). This can help deter wongari from coming too close. 🚫
