Sweeping Machine Operator / General Cleaner in Epping VIC 3076

Our company is rapidly growing, and we need an experienced plant operator and team leader to join our team in Epping, Victoria.

We are an industrial cleaning company that prides itself on quality maintenance for our clients all over Melbourne. We specialize in car park and warehouse cleaning, Construction handover cleaning, machine power Sweeping/Scrubbing and cool room cleaning. So, we need a full-time operator/cleaner to drive from site to site completing tasks.

The role includes tasks such as:
✅Operation of Power Sweeping/Scrubbing machines
✅Heavy Towing of 3.5ton machine with a Ute and trailer
✅Pressure washing
✅Adhoc Cleaning Duties
✅Regular General Maintenance and cleaning of machinery
✅Working odd hours where necessary ie: Shift Work (possibly 1-2 days per week)

The operator will need experience in:
✅Plant operation i.e. ride on Sweeping/Scrubbing machines and forklifts
✅Driving with zero infringements
✅Large trailer towing (3.5tons)
✅Construction site logistics (Experience with CFMEU union sites) (Not necessary but would be advantageous)
✅Basic Mechanics
✅Pressure Washing and knowing how to work with water flow
✅Able to greet and take care of clients’ needs

To be hired, you will need:
✅Valid Driver’s license
✅Construction Induction Card (white card)
✅COVID-19 Vaccination
✅Registered with CFMEU (Not necessary but would be advantageous)
✅(EWP) Elevated Work Platform License (Not necessary but would be advantageous).
✅(RIW) Rail industry workers card (Not necessary but would be advantageous).

Above all the successful candidate needs to be team driven, able to work autonomously and willing to contribute to the growth of the business.

Candidates will be subject to a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screen, as well as a driving history check.

Full time with a 6 month probation period.

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic professional cleaner who can also operate heavy duty cleaning machinery to join our well-established, family owned business.

We are an industrial cleaning company that prides itself on quality maintenance for our clients all over Melbourne. We specialise in car park and warehouse cleaning, construction handover cleaning, machine power sweeping/scrubbing and cool room cleaning.

You must be action focused, able to work autonomously, have good hands on knowledge of basic machinery, and be able to think on their feet.

We are looking for a candidate who wants to be with the business long term, and who wants to contribute to the success of the business. This will be highly valued.


Key responsibilities:

• Operation of power sweeping and scrubbing machines
• Heavy Towing of 3.5 ton machine with a Ute and trailer (provided)
• General Maintenance and cleaning of machinery
• Pressure washing of industrial spaces
• Cleaning of newly built industrial premises before handover to owner
• Ensure they are fully prepared and stocked with chemicals, cleaning tools and kit ahead of scheduled jobs from head office warehouse
• Working with hazardous chemicals and following required safety instructions
• General reporting on each job including any discrepancies with the original scope of work, including note taking, photo documenting and prepare defect lists where appropriate
• Be confident and professional in communication via phone and email with clients and head off admin team. The successful application will be in direct contact with our clients and suppliers, it is expected that you will represent the company accordingly
• Regular use of the company field application to communicate back to the head office regard job start, completion and general notes

Personal attributes:
• Flexible with working hours, some odd hours will be required
• Confident working autonomously
• Reliable and professional at all times – we need you to be a team player
• Some knowledge of basic mechanics – this may be as simple as knowing where a problem as occurred, not necessarily knowing how to fix it
• Comfortable towing a large trailer (3.5tons)
• Detail orientated, this is particularly important for our clients who expect a high standard of work from us
• Quick and efficient with their time
• Confident on construction sites
• Savvy and logical with good common sense
• Ability to think on your feet
• Happy speaking to everyone from clients to suppliers, to head office staff
• Happy to recommend efficiencies or changes that may benefit the business
• Understand the nature of small/medium sized businesses
• Well presented

Other:
• Immediate start preferred
• Initial casual probation period with full time hours, with a view to moving to a full time position
• Driver’s license required
• Preference for successful applicator to have their own vehicle and not rely on public transport in order to get to head office every day
• Head office in Epping location, but jobs to be completed all over Melbourne

It is with mixed feelings that we announce the retirement of our beloved and much appreciated Emil Chybowski. It is difficult if not impossible to sum up his achievements over 25 years of dedicated service since starting Berkeley Cleaning Services.

Emil will always be remembered as the hardworking, committed, and friendly person. He is a true example to look for and follow.

The reins have been passed onto Michael Chybowski who has closely followed in Emil's footsteps being an integral part of the business as Operations Manager for over 10 years.

Emil will still be available to the team during transition and is happy to consult when need. We wish you all the bets with your retirement.
