VIP !! PLEASE SUPPORT OUR LOCAL PALM BEACH POOL !!
This time last year it made the news....and its happening again!!!
Local Palm Beach residents, Michael and Narelle Wenden , who have been running the very successful and much loved Palm Beach Olympic Pool for the past 35 years, are under threat YET AGAIN from a take over by an intersate conglomerate.
Michael is a legend in swimming in this country, having represented this country in the Mexico and Munich Olympic Games, being a multi Gold Medalist.
He and his wife Narelle have raised their 5 children at this complex, and most certainly have called it home for over a third of a century.
They provide affordable swimming lessons for babies through to seniors, run school training and carnivals, and have supported the community in more ways than people realise.
Their creche is only $1 per hour, to allow new Mums the chance of swimming and exercise.
This is all under threat AGAIN, as our Council feel it should be tendered out to big business who will put prices up and let quality drop.
Big business will pay their swimming teachers about $15 per hour, whilst the Wendens senior trainers earn $35 per hour, BECAUSE they have the experience!
Who would you prefer to teach your children?
People travel PAST other pools to swim at the Wendens, as it is famous for its cleanliness. Some of the others are more than questionable.
There are a lot more factors to add, but I will keep it to the point.
THE WENDENS HAVE BEEN GAGGED AND ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TALK TO THE MEDIA OVER THIS!!
Why?
Because it was the outrage from the community last year that saved them from being turfed out of their home and business.
Now, the council will not allow them their right to talk to the media. Wow. Talk about Big Brother!
You can help. Please join this campaign to save the Wendens home and business.

Email the Gold Coast City Council Aldermans and let them know of your disapproval.
Alan Jones from 2GB in Sydney is RIGHT behind the Wendens. If the Wendens cannot talk, I am sure a lot of us can.
Please do not let this family institution fall into the hands of a conglomerate like most of the other Council pools have, Australia wide. There are only a handful of privately run council pools left.
Lets not let this happen!
THE DECISION IS BEING HANDED DOWN THIS COMING TUESDAY. PLEASE DO WHAT YOU ARE ABLE TO.
Thank you,
Mandy Watson
