Boundary Power has successfully deployed its first SAPS on the east coast.

The Renewable Stand-Alone Power System (SAPS) product – Solar Qube®, was installed on a remote site to provide continuous, reliable, off-grid power for an end user. This site is one of the first trial sites for SAPS for the utility provider.

Boundary Power will deliver 50 new Stand-Alone Power Systems for Horizon Power in the Esperance region of Western Australia from January 2023.

The new deployment round comes after the successful delivery of 42 systems to date across the Gascoyne and Mid-west regions, including Australia's first remote mobile communications tower to be powered by a SPS for Telstra.

Renewable Stand-Alone Power Systems are a commercially viable alternative to traditional 'Poles and Wire' and provide a safer, more reliable power source for remote customers.

Congratulations to all entrants at last night’s InnovationAus awards held in Sydney.
We were honoured to be in the room with such innovative products across the 11 divisions. While we didn’t pick up the top prize, we were elated to be shortlisted in the Energy and Renewables category. Poles & wires can be a hazardous burden for agri-businesses, requiring a three-meter perimeter per pole, maintaining consistent w**d and pest control. There is risk of farm machinery or birds colliding with poles, dust build up, and lightning strikes leading to pole top fires. Not to mention the frequent power fluctuations, interruptions, and outages that occur at the end of a lengthy distribution spur line.

Stand-alone power systems offer a substantial improvement to safety and efficiency, eliminating the need for pole maintenance and allowing agri-businesses to maximise their land usage.

Remote monitoring ensures any issues can be identified and rectified quickly, the majority of which can be resolved remotely from the control centre.

As a scalable power solution, SAPS are optimised to meet the needs of both small and large scale agricultural operations.

Yesterday members of the Horizon Power Board and Horizon Power executives visited the CPS National/ Ampcontrol workshop where Boundary Power is developing and building Stand-Alone Power Systems (SAPS) for deployment. They viewed several of our current SAPS solutions, including the Solar Qube®, R-Series and a Kiosk enclosure.

Over the past two years, Boundary Power has deployed close to 50 SAPS units across Horizon Power’s service area as part of Horizon’s Renew the Region program, enabled by a $57.4 million contribution from the State Government as part of its WA Recovery Plan. Solar-powered SAPS operate independently from the primary grid, allowing Horizon Power to remove poles and wires and, in turn, reduce outages caused by maintenance and weather events like floods and bushfires.
