Industry updates:
Department of Health, Disability & Aging
Registered Providers:
From 1 November, providers need to be registered with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. They must also meet requirements under their registration categories, based on the services they deliver.
Worker Screening Checks:
From 1 November this year, all aged care workers and responsible persons will continue to need either a
current police certificate that does not record certain offences or
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) worker screening check.
Providers will need to check a person’s police certificate for certain offences.
Webinar: Dementia clinical guidelines:
Monash University is holding a webinar about updating the Dementia Clinical Practice Guidelines and Principles of Care.
When: Tuesday 14 October, 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm (AEDT).
Free mental health and wellbeing services:
If you’re worried about someone in your care who needs mental health support, Medicare Mental Health can help.
It provides free, confidential mental health support, including:
-face-to-face supports
-a national phone service
-resources.
New requirements for in-home meals: (in home care)
The department is introducing new requirements to ensure meals, drinks and snacks provided to older people are nutritious, appetising and consider their needs and preferences.
The requirements apply to meals, drinks and snacks delivered into an older person’s home or as part of community, centre-based and cottage respite.
