Central Coast Snake Catchers

Central Coast Snake Catchers Please note that fees do apply. I’ve been handling snakes and other reptiles most of my life (now over 40 years) and held my first snake at just 4 days old!
(1)

I provide a catch and release service for snakes and other reptiles, and can also provide property inspections to assist you and/or your business minimise the likelihood of unwelcome guests. Growing up my father had a traveling reptile show and he was involved in reptile handling and catch & release services. We usually accommodated around 300 snakes and other reptiles at our house at any given ti

mes so reptile handling became second nature. In primary school (much to the dismay of my mother) I used to come home, check the answering machine for customers, and take myself off to catch brown snakes and Red Bellied Black snakes without an adult’s knowledge or supervision, returning most days with a collection of venomous snakes. My father was one of the 3 original founders of WIRES, with the idea commencing in my childhood loungeroom around the coffee table. I commenced working for WIRES at age 15, working for 17 years as a hands-on reptile handling instructor. During this time I trained Police, Fire Brigade, National Parks & Wildlife Service, State Emergency Services, HAZMAT and Ambulance officers in catch & release as well as foster caring, housing and rehabilitation. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience and look forward to assisting you with all your catch & release or property inspection needs.

A 2 tailed blue tongue skink.

I was called out for a snake in a yard in Wyoming and it turned out to be this guy.

Small skinks can 'throw' their tail which will wriggle from nerves and give the lizard a chance to escape whilst the writhing tail attracts the predators attention, large skinks only loose their tail by external force removal, ie chopping or by being biten off.

The tails hold conditioning for the lizards to get through the winter.

You can see the in the photos the colour difference where the regenerated tail starts as it differs from the rest of the lizard.
This new tail has no bone in it as bone regeneration is not possible.
The branching off of 2 tails is unusual but not unheard of.

How random to have that turn up.
