This winter season, 230 coats have been distributed to those who need them, thanks to Community Bank Maldon & District and Sac’O’Suds Launderette

We love this program. It doesn't take too much to get the coats out because everyone helps. And it helps keep clothes out of landfill for longer.

The coats were distributed at Maldon Community Pantry, Dunolly RTC, Castlemaine Community House and MAAW EMPAWRIUM OP SHOP

Our 2026 Upcycling Award is now open! And we're very excited. Plus we have a new category: textiles!!!

If you love to create and want to help our planet, this is the competition for you.

There are four prizes of $300!!!

This competition is open to all ages. It's open to individuals only and must be something made from items destined for landfill. And you must be able to bring your entry in or post it to us.

We'd like you to upcycle something into something else.

There are four categories to help guide you:

- most innovative idea
- reduces the amount going to landfill
- most artistic
- reduces textile waste

Start getting your thinking caps on and get making!

The competition closes Saturday 31 October at 4pm and you must be able to bring your entry into The Good Op Shop (and collect it), at 4 Lewis Drive Castlemaine.

Judging will take place in November.
