Why AFM is the Best Filter Media (AFM vs Glass) 💧

When upgrading your pool filter media, many people compare standard glass media with AFM Activated Filter Media. While both are made from glass, AFM is engineered and activated, which gives it major performance advantages.

🔹 AFM Filters Finer Particles
AFM filters particles down to around 1 micron, while typical crushed glass filter media filters about 4–5 microns. This means clearer, more polished water.

🔹 Bio-Resistant (Glass Isn’t)
Standard glass media can still develop biofilm and bacteria over time. AFM is chemically activated to prevent bacterial growth, keeping the filter cleaner and more hygienic.

Today marks 2 years since Ben and I took over Whitsunday Pool Service.

What a ride or should I say swim?

We’ve had growth, stress, big decisions, early mornings, late nights… and a whole lot of goats in between 🐐

We started working here.
Went out on our own for a little bit.
Then came back and bought it — because we loved it that much.

Two years later, we’re picking up the keys to shop number two (opening soon in Proserpine 👀).

And behind the scenes… we’ve got a few other surprises quietly in the works.

None of this happens without our incredible team who show up every single day.
And our suppliers who back us and support our growth.
