HI everyone!
Here are some little tips and hacks to help you maintain your wonderful clean homes, from a professional cleaner.
1 - how do you make my shower so clean without such harsh chemicals?
Dish soap! get yourself one of those dishwashing wands (I like the ones from bunnings), Mark it for the bathroom only with a permanent marker, and fill it with your favorite dish soap. Hang it in the shower, and you can scrub the shower while you’re in it anyway. Dish soap does a great job cleaning the bathroom and removes any soap scum build up and keeps your screens beautifully clear! Gumption also works super well for removing stubborn water stains! Drying your shower after each use really helps keep it clean and prevents mould buildup.
2 - how do you get into the corners of the furniture to dust without moving it?
Paint brushes! I’ll do this for spring cleans, deep cleans and regularly if time allows. They are great for getting down the sides of furniture, dusting hard to reach places and fragile items.
3 - how do you remove the stubborn pet hair off my scratching post/carpet/couches?
Window squeegee and rubber gloves! Both work super well. if using the squeegee, go over the same spot a few times and watch the hair come right out! Rubber gloves just rub in circular motions.
4 - how do you clean my blinds so quickly?
Socks! Sock hands make great dusters! Use a dry pair to pre dust, then a wet pair to remove any stains!
5 - how do you remove those stubborn stains in the bottom of my toilet?
Denture tablets! Pop 1 or 2 (if the stain is bad) and leave for 30 mins. Clean as usual! Repeat if needed.
6 - how do you make my leather couches look and feel like new?
Stainless steel cleaner! I use the magic! stainless steel cleaner and protector from Woolworths on all leather/pleather furniture. It work’s beautifully. Please note: always spot test in a hidden area before you add anything new to your leather.
General tips:
Always dust from top to bottom
- Baking soda works wonders for pet stains and smells
- Use baking soda to clean your dishwasher once a week
- Soaking shower heads in vinegar can help remove build up
- Color coordinate your cleaning cloths (I use microfibers cloths). Example - yellow for bathroom, blue for kitchen etc to prevent cross contamination.
- Wash your cloths with washing soda once a month to help remove detergent build up.
Do not spray chemicals directly onto your walls. Always dilute with water and use a cloth/sponge. Spraying even super market spray and wipe can cause discoloration and damage to your paintwork.
All in all yes, I use alot of professional chemicals and as amazing as they are these are things that I have learnt as a professional cleaner and I hope they help you!
