🚿 SOAP SCUM – Why It Builds Up & Why It’s So Hard to Remove! 🚿
Soap scum might not look like a big deal at first… but if it’s not cleaned regularly, it can quickly turn into a stubborn, cloudy, chalky build-up on your shower glass, tiles, and taps.
💦 What causes it?
Soap scum forms when soap mixes with hard water minerals and body oils. Over time, this combination sticks to surfaces and hardens — especially on shower screens and tiles.
⚠️ What happens if it’s left too long?
• Glass becomes permanently cloudy
• Tiles start to stain
• Grout discolours
• It becomes much harder (and more expensive) to remove
• Can eventually lead to “glass cancer” (etching of the glass)
🧼 How to prevent it:
✔️ Squeegee your shower after each use
✔️ Wipe down tiles weekly
✔️ Use a proper shower cleaner (not just water)
✔️ Book in regular maintenance cleans
Prevention is always easier than restoration! Once soap scum has etched into glass, it may not fully come off — even with professional products.
If your shower glass is looking cloudy or feels rough to touch, it might be time for a deep clean 💎
