Ants cannot chew their food. They move their jaws sideways like a scissor, to extract the juices from it.

- Worker ants use their jaws to break, scrape or collect food.

- They mix solid food with saliva, which begins dissolving it.

- Fine filters around the mouth prevent most solid particles from being swallowed.

- The ant drinks the liquefied nutrients and stores some in its crop, often called its “social stomach.”

- Workers return to the nest and share this liquid mouth-to-mouth with other workers, larvae and the queen. This is called trophallaxis.

- Larger solid food and insect pieces are commonly carried to the nest and fed to the larvae, which can digest solids more effectively.

Adult ants generally seek carbohydrates for energy—such as nectar, honeydew and sugary liquids—while protein and fats are particularly important for larvae, egg production and colony growth.

A good licensed and qualified termite technician understands how to create a continuous and compliant treated zone around your home or business. During this installation, we uncovered and removed small boulders because liquid termiticide is designed to bind with treated soil, not solid rock. Leaving the boulder in place would have interrupted the treated zone and created an untreated pathway that termites may exploit.

What makes this situation even more perplexing is that this home previously had a treated zone installed around the external walls so to find this boulder in the treatment zone/pathway tells me the previous technician/installer didn’t treat this section of the home – which absolutely blows my mind!!

Proven Pest Solutions are an accredited supplier and installer for The Term-X Replenishment System. This system has been designed to suit the harshest conditions 🇦🇺 and termite pressure.
It has been extensively tested to offer long-term termite management and prevention. The TermX Replenishment System is a specially designed pipe system that, once buried under ground either around the perimeter of a structure, or under a slab prior to construction or pouring a concrete path/patio, is used to apply liquid termiticide chemical under pressure to saturate the soil medium surrounding that structure.

Using this system means you won't have 12mm holes drilled every 200 - 450mm, which looks slightly off-putting to some homeowners. It's all concealed under slab - the only component you will see is the fill point junction box.

Once that slab gets poured, there's no going back - your only option for a termite barrier/treated zone is by drilling those 12mm holes or by installing in-ground termite bait and monitoring stations.
