It is important to note that when concreting against your home that you have Termite Management in place along the cold joint as per the Australian Standards 3660.2-2017.
This reduces the risk of hidden Termite entry into your home and also stops you having to cut open and lift out the new concrete just poured because the state Certifier hands you paper work stating that the work completed is not compliant with the Australian Standards and now your costs multiply to fix an issue that could have been prevented.
Your Builder or Concretor should be up to scratch on the Australian Standards and should not be completing this work without advising you of the Termite Management required since 2010 and updated in 2017 in relation to a Chemical Reticulation System or Physical Termite Barrier in conjunction with any additional work attached to the existing building.
The Australian Standards are in place to protect the home owner from dodgy work and to ensure all contracts of work being completed adhere to Reports system Australia and contractors are fully insured to work on your home.
If in doubt contact your local Termite and Pest Control and we will explain all requirements to meet this Australian Standard as this is a requirement and is not something to be dismissed as costing extra but as part of your renovation costs.

At first glance you don't really see what damage Termites can cause to the timber wall studs or roof rafters untill it's too late.
As you can see there is enough damage in this roof that a builder or roofing company will charge thousands of dollars to replace part of the structure and make safe again, not to mention the damage to the internal wall that you are unable to see.
This was a result of a leaking roof and gutter back flow, the wall became water damaged which was then palletable for the termites to destroy and the Termites entered the house 10 meters away to get to that point and is why we recommend that you should have a Termite inspection of your home so we can show you any areas of your home that are vunerable to Termite attack and also show areas that Termites could potentially enter your home undetected so you can avoid thousands of dollars in repairs.
Prevention against Termite attack is always the better way to protect your home against the highly damaging but very small pest.

This is a Termite, they are called an Alate and they are juevinal Queens and Kings and are always in pairs and there are several different species but these are the smaller Heterotermes Termite.
These are colonating at the moment and are mistaken for flying ants but ants only have 2 wings.
You can see that they have 4 wings and these wings are dropped when they enter your home and find a suitable place.
It is a good idea to have your home and property inspected for Termites to help prevent any spieces of Alate causing problems in your home that could potentially cause thousands of dollars of damage.

With Termites they only want to eat 1 thing and that is timber, wet, mouldy, rotten, decayed and also dry timbers, from wood chip, mulch, branches, trees, posts, garden edging, retaining walls and also your wall studs and architrays will be targeted.
If you think you may have Termites the best thing to do is leave them alone and call your Termite and Pest Control, but if you have disturbed them inside your home then using masking tape to cover the damage inside will help prevent them going into different parts of your walls and contact your local Termite and Pest control technician to treat them and the colony using Termidor.

When you have Termites they can be very destructive not just in your home but your sheds, garages along with any timbers you have around your home & property.
It is very important to store timbers up off the ground to keep them dry, along with checking all areas surrounding your home regularly as the Termites in the recording have destroyed the hard wood framing of the garage wall along with a bed & MDF board over a couple of months.
Call your local pest control to help point out areas of suseptible or conducive conditions around your home so any termites can be prevented entry by some cost free solutions or if needed, Termidor can be used to treat any Termite activity found close to your home.

You would not notice any of this Termite activity on your daily activities around your home unless you were specifically looking for it.
There's one thing about Termites, it is no matter what species they are if the timber is wet & starting to rot it is then suseptible & a perfect food source for them to get into your home & start eating away at walls & floors.
You can help prevent Termites from entering your home without you seeing them by having your local Pest Controller call around & inspect your home as they will pick up any signs of water damage, subsidence, dry rot, mould, inadequate drainage from around or under your home aswell as let you know the appropriate business to contact to rectify any of the issues you may have.
Please remember that if you are unsure if it Termite or Ant activity around your home it does not cost anything to ask a question or receive a quote.

With Termites they can very easily gain access to your home through the stumps that are holding your home up.
As you can see with this termite check we completed, these stumps have started with wood rot which have drawn the Termites to the home and then they have gone straight up the centre due to end caps having holes in them and not installed properly.
Also you can see from the bathroom leaking it has caused wood rot which also brings the Termites into your home but has nearly shorted out the wiring, either causing a power surge, fire or electrocution.
These are just a couple of reasons for a inspection of your home as Pest controllers don't just look for Termites and other insects but also for any other conditions around your home that can cause minor or severe problems.
Contact your local pest controller to ensure your home free from leaks, rot & termites.

When it comes to Termite Activity they all have 1 thing in common, they love Timber.
If you take the proper precautions by keeping your timber walls, verandahs, garages, roof space & bathroom walls dry & free from water & leaks which can cause wood rot/decay as this sends out a Co2 odour that attracts Termites from outside your home bringing them in & tells the Termites that there is a food source for them to feed the colony.
This is just 1 reason you should have a Termite Check or Termite Inspection on your home & property by your local Pest Control or us @ Total Termite & Pest Control so we can point out areas that are suseptible to Termite Activity & also treat any Termites that may be on your property that you don't realise are there.

Termites have no problem attacking your outdoor furniture & or any other timber products in your yard or sheds.
As you can see the Termites came up through the ground where you don't see them, picking off the most eatable sections of this seat.
You should keep out door timbers up off the ground on concrete, blocks, metal or stands to prevent wood rot & being suseptible to termite attack.
