Cold Snap = Rats 🐀

My 2 jobs yesterday both had rodent signs pop up over night due to the cold snap. Rodents are just like us warm blooded mammals. They need food water and shelter to survive.

You can see burrowing under the slab in second photo and climbing up a brick wall and chewing a hole to get into ceiling 🤯

When temperatures drop they seek shelter in our homes and businesses.

With rodents it’s not all about just poisons we take great care in rodent proofing and reducing conducive environments on the home to limit rodent activity. 🐭

Working angles in the garden with The Gorgeous Male Sydney Funnel Web! Check out the last photo and see the mating spur on his legs this is how you can ID males. One of the craziest facts about the Funnel Web is that if the venom is so toxic for humans and primates but it barely affects mammals like your pet dogs or cats! Mind blowing evolution!

Another Active Termite Job! With this hot weather and a lot of rain fall Termites are thriving! When was your last inspection? If your answer is ‘ahhhhh 2 years ago, BOOK NOW Australian Standrads recommend at least Annual termite inspections. Termites can travel 1m per day through soil and timber which is why if you leave it years and you have an issue your unaware of major damage will be done. 🫡

Volume Up!! 😍🪲

This was December last year and as you know the cicadas were insanely noisey! No wonder they get the award for loudest insect in the world! 🌎

I was at a job in Stanwell Park doing a yearly Termite inspection. I literally had to work with ear plugs in it was too loud. As the client was gardening around the house he yelled out OI S**T there’s a snake out the back! So I came for a look and found this lovely diamond python 🐍 Lucky snakes don’t have ears!

Some years are obviously loud for cicadas as they live most of they’re life underground as Nymphs feeding on tree roots and sap. They only live for a few weeks as adults to breed and lay eggs, so my guess is this year won’t be as bad as last but in 5-10 years we will have another amazing Cicada emerging year!

Active Termites Located ⚠️

Here we found a very active termite lead in the subfloor. You can see how they have mudded over the metal ant capping. The Ant Caps are designed to stop concealed termite entry they don’t actually STOP termites. 🧐

We have implemented a termite management strategy to this home. 👍

Did you know AS 3660.2 recommends termite inspections at least annually! 😇

Also it’s is estimated termites can travel 1 meter a day through timber and soil 🤨

Meet the German Cockroach 👋🏻

Small, sneaky, and one of the fastest breeders in the bug world.

They’re the most common household cockroach in Australia, and they don’t muck around. One female can lead to over 30,000 roaches in just a year 😳

You’ll usually find them in warm, humid spots like behind fridges, under sinks or inside kitchen appliances. They’re fast, hard to spot, and love a good midnight snack.

If you see one, chances are there’s a lot more hiding out nearby 😰
