Winged ant or flying termite? 🤔

From a distance, they might look the same, but only one will eat your house from the inside out, and it’s not the ant 😅

Here’s what to look for:
✔️ Ants have bent antennae, termites have straight ones
✔️ Ants have a narrow waist, termites have a thick one
✔️ Ants have uneven wings, termites have two pairs that are the same size

Flying termites usually appear in spring or after rain, and if you’re spotting them near your home, it could mean there’s a nest nearby (or worse, already inside).

Spotted a swarm or found some discarded wings?

🏠 WHAT YOU SEE vs WHAT WE SEE 👀🔍

When you’re buying a home, you see the kitchen, the bathrooms, the backyard and all the things that make you fall in love with the property.

We see something completely different.

Our job is to look beyond the surface and identify the signs of termites, timber pests, borer activity, timber decay and conditions that could put the property at risk.

🔎 We know where to look
🌡️ We use specialist inspection equipment
🐜 We look for signs that are easy to miss
🏚️ We inspect areas most buyers simply wouldn’t think to check

A property can look perfect on the surface while hiding expensive timber pest problems underneath.

Before you sign the contract, know what you’re buying.

A professional pre-purchase timber pest inspection could save you from a very expensive surprise.

❤️ This is why I love what I do!

Pest control isn’t just about getting rid of pests — it’s about the people we meet along the way.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of meeting so many amazing clients, helping protect their homes and businesses, and building relationships that last for years.

There’s something really rewarding about seeing the same customers come back to us year after year. That long-lasting return work is something we’re incredibly grateful for, and it’s a big part of what makes running a local family business so special.

We genuinely love what we do, we take pride in every job, and we’re proud to have built a business based on trust, quality service and great relationships.

Thank you to every client who continues to support Copes Pest & Termite Solutions — we truly appreciate it! 🐜🕷️🐀

Poor subfloor ventilation can lead to excess moisture, dampness, mould, timber deterioration and conditions that attract termites and other timber pests. On this job we installed some large concrete wire mesh vents to increase cross flow ventilation and a mechanical fan to remove dampness 🙌

Cold Snap = Rats 🐀

My 2 jobs yesterday both had rodent signs pop up over night due to the cold snap. Rodents are just like us warm blooded mammals. They need food water and shelter to survive.

You can see burrowing under the slab in second photo and climbing up a brick wall and chewing a hole to get into ceiling 🤯

When temperatures drop they seek shelter in our homes and businesses.

With rodents it’s not all about just poisons we take great care in rodent proofing and reducing conducive environments on the home to limit rodent activity. 🐭

Reach out if you would like a rodent inspection comming into the colder months. 😇

There is also a lot of good change in the pest control industry in regards to rodenticide review on Second Generation Anticoagulant rodenticides, I’ll share a detailed post on this change 👍
