When I do public speaking to rooms of people in business, I love to ask this question ... "Who grew up in a Family Business?". A few hands go up. Then I say "I grew up in Family Business and it SUCKED".

There's a laugh, and a few eyes that widen with a familiarity of exactly what I'm referring too!

My Dad was a Brickies Labourer - THE hardest working guy on the work site - and one day he thought he would try going into his own business to work less and make more money, so he went into the Food Hospitality industry ... THEN HE FOUND OUT WHAT HARD WORK REALLY IS!!

Dad literally worked over 100 hours every week. He wasn't making enough money from his first retail food shop, so he did what any work-drunk entrepreneurial seizure suffering person would do - add ANOTHER business to the mix! Seriously!

Then - one fateful, life changing, pivotal day - Dad put his hand on my shoulder (I was elbow deep in washing patrons dishes in the restaurant kitchen at the time) and he said ... "Work hard son and one day ALL THIS WILL BE YOURS!".

So I left home!

I was lucky enough to get a job with a gentleman who owned about 30 different business interests, including pubs, hotels, office buildings and more.

One thing I noticed about Mr Maloney (BRW Rich List Member valued at $350 Million dollars) was this ... He didn't work! Seriously! Never! He had people running his businesses and reporting to his General Manager who in turn reported to Mr Maloney - from time-to-time LOL!

I was hooked. How did he do/get away with this? What did he know and do so that he got such different results to Dad?

Well ... I figured it out. I also discovered that lots of other truly successful people in business, like Mr Maloney had also figured it out - and they had a similar recipe they all followed.

I personally applied this recipe to my own businesses and voila! It worked. Now my passion is showing other people in business, like dad, so they can apply the same recipe. It's called Profit Mechanics and I've boiled it down to 3 steps called Profit Mechaninisms 1, 2 & 3.

This process has been applied to literally 100's of businesses and just makes sense. People I show this to often say "I knew about many of the things covered but this shows how they all join together".
