Very important to prime all timber on external stairs to help stop wet rot and prolong their life. I see a lot of them out inspecting that have started rotting because this simple step wasn’t done. Here’s one I built last week — properly primed and ready to last!

Holes drilled into downpipes often means the storm water is blocked somewhere and someone has drilled pipe to stop gutters overflowing. Worth getting a plumber to check site drainage.

If you're checking out a new property, make sure to look under the floors. One thing to watch for: cut or notched floor joists—especially around plumbing!

Plumbers sometimes cut through floor joists to run pipes, but if it's done improperly, it can seriously weaken the structure. Over time, that can lead to sagging floors or worse.

I’ve come across a few examples of this recently while inspecting—definitely something to keep an eye out for!

🚿 Leaking shower screens.
If I inspect 10 showers screens, probably 5 of them leak. It’s such an easy fix—just get them resealed before you sell. It saves a lot of hassle!
