Cyclone season kicks off this Sunday, 1 November ⛈️

It runs through to 30 April, and storm activity is already picking up across Queensland. Before the next big one rolls in, run through these four checks:

Clear gutters and drains
Secure bins, outdoor furniture and signage
Signpost wet entries to prevent slips
Have a clean-up plan ready

Our grounds, cleaning and safety teams are on it across Queensland. Need help getting your site storm-ready? Call 1300 663 963 or visit spsfacilities.com.

Myth vs fact: cleaning edition 🧽

Think you know cleaning? Here are three myths our crews hear all the time:

❌ Cleaning and disinfecting are the same.
✅ Cleaning removes dirt and germs. Disinfecting kills germs. Clean first, then disinfect.

❌ More product means a better clean.
✅ Too much chemical leaves residue that attracts dirt. Correct dilution works best.

❌ If it looks clean, it is clean.
✅ Door handles, lift buttons and keyboards can carry germs you can’t see.

What’s a cleaning myth you’ve heard? Let us know in the comments.

⚠️ Weather alert for our SEQ team

Up to 80mm of rain is falling across Brisbane, with even more expected throughout the SEQ region. If it’s flooded, forget it. Never drive, walk or ride through floodwater.

If you can’t reach site safely, please call your Area Manager and we’ll work it out together.

Check BoM warnings before you head out. For flood or storm assistance, call the SES on 132 500. In an emergency, call 000.

Your safety is our priority. Stay dry, everyone. 🧡

Ever noticed how some cleaning teams just get your site? They know your people, your routines and exactly how you like things done. 🙌

That doesn’t happen by accident. In this carousel, our Commercial Manager, Peta Nipper, shares why culture is the real difference-maker in commercial cleaning, and why directly employed teams make all the difference.

Know a facility manager who’d find this useful? Tag them below.

What makes a great cleaning provider? Our Commercial Manager, Peta Nipper, says you won’t find the answer in a brochure. You’ll find it on site. 🧽

“Culture is what shows up on your site every day.”

Peta has spent 24+ years in this industry, and she’s seen what happens when people feel valued: they stay, they care and they go the extra mile without being asked.

October is National Safe Work Month, and this year’s theme is “Safe work is for life”.

Did you know more than 400 serious workers’ compensation claims are made in Australia every day? Behind every claim is a worker, their family and their future. It’s a reminder to set up each job properly, use the right equipment, and speak up early when something doesn’t look right.

Safety is one of our core values, on every site and every shift.

Build community, build wellbeing.

This week is Queensland Mental Health Week (3 to 11 October). A lot of our team work solo or on different shifts, so we're sharing three simple ways to connect:

Ask how someone's going, and really listen.
Share a cuppa or a lunch break with someone new.
Message a teammate on a different shift.

Who will you check in on this week?

This one made us smile. 💙

When Dorian and Alberto finished up with our Townsville team, Dorian shared a beautiful message thanking their manager, Leah, for her support, her kindness and the memories they made together.

Leah has built something special up north, and the boys were a big part of it. Across the port, police stations, the watch house and more, they brought real care to every site.

Thank you, Dorian and Alberto, for your time with us and all you contributed. And Leah, this one's for you too.
