IDS are proud to announce that we have been awarded the contract to provide Decontamination, care and maintenance services to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services Western Australia (DFES).

The new contract commenced in February 2023 and demonstrates DFES’s focus on fire fighter safety, in particular the importance the organisation places on proper and measurable decontamination of protective clothing and equipment. The specialised IDS facility in Rockingham will be the base for the program that will cover the entire state and provide decontamination, repair and logistics support services for WA’s professional and volunteer fire fighters PPE Fleet.

The IDS DECON Connect app provides a quick and simple booking system, saving fire fighters time and effort when they need to have their gear decontaminated. The IDS safe freight system ensures that their gear is collected safely and delivered to the decontamination facility for processing and return. Fire fighters can track the progress of their gear using the DECON Connect App which notifies the fire fighter when their gear has arrived at the decontamination facility and when it has been processed and despatched for return to their station.

A shout out to the team at our Brisbane Decontamination Facility in Brendale. In addition to their normal busy schedule they successfully decontaminated 80 PAPR units and 65 fall arrest harnesses kits in just 7 days. Our client needed these processed quickly as they were required for a new major project. So far in 2022 IDS has decontaminated over 6500 negative pressure respirators and over 2000 PAPR respirators across our national network for over 300 clients.
