Last night, our BKLA team came together for a special Paint & ‘SIP’. 🎨

While we painted, sipped on mocktails and enjoyed each other’s company, we also took the opportunity to discuss our Strategic Inclusion Plan (SIP) - brainstorming ideas and sharing ways we can continue to grow, improve, and provide the very best for our children and families.

The children and staff at Blairmount Kids Learning Academy would like to say a big thank you to our families and community for helping us celebrate Pyjama Day! 🧸🌙✨

Through the sale of lolly bags and lucky dips, we raised $170 for the Pyjama Foundation, supporting children in foster care. 🫶🏻

Yesterday, Blairmount Kids Learning Academy welcomed Casey and Keiran from Gumaraa, who shared their rich First Nations heritage with us through an engaging and memorable cultural session. The children and educators engaged in the following experiences :

-An ochre ceremony, where children were invited to take part in a traditional cleansing practice, symbolising connection to Country and culture.

-A cultural showcase featuring traditional artefacts such as boomerangs, dillybags, nula nulas, didgeridoos and Bardi, which children were able to observe and engage with.

-A walk-through of native plants like bottlebrush, eucalyptus and red ash where we discovered their many traditional uses, from natural soap and medicine to brooms and hairbrushes.

-A lively movement session guided by Keiran playing the didgeridoo, where Casey showed the children how to move like native animals such as kangaroos, snakes, and emus.

These experiences offered our children a powerful opportunity to connect with Aboriginal culture, deepening their understanding, curiosity, and respect for the world’s oldest living culture.

To finalise our incursion, Casey and Keiran gifted BKLA a very special boomerang. Together, we all thanked them for the knowledge they gave us and for supporting our growing connection to the land.🪃

At Blairmount Kids Learning Academy, children are always our priority.

This week, our team came together for a Child Protection refresher, a vital part of our ongoing commitment to keeping children safe, supported, and heard. These professional learning sessions help ensure that all of our educators are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to protect children’s rights and wellbeing.

Alongside this, we have been celebrating NAIDOC Week 2025, recognising the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through meaningful play experiences, storytelling, art, and connection to Country.

By deepening our understanding of cultural identity and strengthening our practices around child safety, we honour every child’s right to feel safe, respected, and celebrated every day.

A truly heartwarming moment as the children giggled and shared curious looks while listening to the soulful sounds of the didgeridoo, connecting music and nature in a truly special way. 🌿
