I just read this and have to pass this on. Especially with the current situation we all face! From one small business owner to another - I see you! ❤️

Running a business is really hard.
What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe anxiety and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid back people.
People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore. You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality, you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.
Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there just is no work-life balance when starting a new business. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the boss, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend...
There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially this past year. Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient….. and hopefully, more of us will stick around!

When looking for a gardener/cleaner you may receive a price higher than you expected. You may think you’re being ripped off BUT there are many factors that go into a price that you may not know about. Some things you may want to consider/ask:
Are they insured? In the event something gets damaged during your service you would want the reassurance that whoever you choose will be covered! If they’re not insured you will probably be paying to replace/repair yourself
Do they provide their own products and tools? What products/tools do they use? At Bubble and Squeak we like to use the most efficient safest products and tools - however some of these items can be costly.
Are they registered for GST? Unfortunately GST does not pay for itself and has to be inclusive in all pricing.
Do they have team members? This is a big one - staff are a big expense in any business especially if like us here at Bubble and Squeak; a business strives to pay their team members well. Not only do you have to pay your staff award or above rates you may need to pay allowances. There are also insurances for workers ie Work Cover. Remember having team members that are taken care of well will produce better results meaning a better standard of service delivered to you the client.

Aswell as the above you also need to consider that most service providers need to travel and we all know that petrol is not cheap! 😬😬 And last but not least people need to be paid for their time. No one wants to work for free or for a minimum amount.

So next time you receive a price that you may think is unreasonable stop and think about the above, is it really that unfair? 🌿🧽 🍱 💭
