It has been a crazy week in both the business and at home. So I’m grateful for the slow moments like this.
Walking along the beach at Hallet Cove this evening with the kids tossing rocks into the ocean.
Sometimes you just need to touch grass (or in this case sand), get into creation, and out of your head.

While I’ve been out sick, my team has been hard at work this week!
Thank you to all the wonderful clients who have been flexible with times, days, and cleaners this past fortnight with sickness having hit our crew!

Now is a great time to remind you that if you, our valued clients are unwell within 48 hours of your scheduled clean, please let us know! While we have our standard cancelation policy of 48-24 hours (depending on your service), we have a sudden sickness grace period for reoccurring clients, for those times when you or your kiddos become unforeseeably contagiously ill. If you notify us ASAP, our cancelation fee for less than 24 hours notice may be waived or reduced at our discretion, where we can reschedule staff.

Look at that shine! ✨
Clean AND sanitised.
The kitchen sink is one of the most overlooked parts of the kitchen when preparing food.
While it’s important to clean the bench and wash hands when preparing food, it’s also really important to ensure your sink, fridge handle and workspaces are not just clean but also sanitised.

Studies have consistently shown that people underestimate the seriousness of food borne pathogens such as E-coli and staphylococcus in home cooking.

To keep your kitchen safe to cook in there are two steps:
1- Clean: remove any dirt, oil, food particles, visible crumbs or grease. These feed and hide bacteria 🦠

should look clean and there should be no food or anything else visible on them. Effective cleaning of chopping boards and utensils, will remove most of the dangerous bacteria present on them. Sanitising will then kill any that might remain. Dishwashers are good at this! But only if you’re drying it after.

2- Sanitise: Obviously you can’t fit your sink, fridge handle and bench in the dishwasher… although sometimes I wish I could 😅 so the next step is to apply a food-safe and surface-appropriate disinfectant (granite bench tops in looking at you!)
Don’t wipe it off immediately, to effectively kill bacteria and viruses disinfectants and sanitisers need to remain in contact with the surface for a specified amount of time (read the label).
Then wipe it dry and you have a clean and sanitary kitchen!

Limescale be gone! One happy customer and another shower screen clear again! Can you tell which photo is the before?

If you’re in the foothills or southern suburbs of Adelaide chances are you’ve got some limescale building up.
No need to be embarrassed it’s really not you, it is the water!
We have moderately hard -hard water around 100-150ppm across our service area! If you’re on ground water it will likely be even higher…

Limescale can appear as a white haze on your shower glass that your windex won’t touch, brown cemented in your toilet bowl and under the rim that is rock hard and bleach only lightens briefly, or even calcification on your taps.
So how do you get rid of it?
Bleaching limescale only temporarily whitens it rather than removing it!
As limescale is essentially remineralised rock it catches the dirt and bacteria causing the brown staining in your loo that won’t scrub out!
To get rid of it in your toilet you can get as much water out of the bowl as possible, before letting an acid based toilet bowl cleaner, not a bleach based one, or a descaler soak for as long as you can handle… (do read the instructions on any bottles!)
Pop on gloves and give it a good scrub with a stiff plastic toilet brush (silicone ones will not work). For the corners a long handled stiff grout brush works great! Slowly with elbow grease and the right products you will literally dissolve and chip the limescale away!

For showers: use an acid based cleaner like acetic acid (cleaning vinegar) or a naturally derived descaler like Enzyme wizards low-Voc non-caustic industrial strength Descaler.
