Clients, please stop doing this to your cleaners:
• Rushing them through jobs that take real time.
• Saying a move-out clean “won’t take long.”
• Expecting perfection on surfaces that actually need restoration.
• Paying late.
• Comparing our rates to nurses or other professions to devalue the work.
• Not communicating your expectations at the beginning of the service
• Not telling your cleaner if something was missed give us the chance to fix it.
• If you require additional tasks to be done, realise something else needs to be sacrificed in order to complete unless the additional time/task is paid for.
• Please dont down play the condition of the house, many cleaners dont do walk throughs before quoting, its based on your honesty. We are not here to judge, we need to know how regularly your place, or particular rooms are deep cleaned in order to quote accurately. This misinformation can cause a world of problems when trying to work out how many staff, how much time and how much that will cost. It saves nasty surprises and unhappy people, or half completed tasks. Were here to help, so we need transparency about your cleaning routine.
• The first clean is always the longest and most expensive. Please understand, when we first go into a house we have to work out where everything is, how your house runs, the type of things we need to do, it takes time to get things to a level we can then maintain at half the time. Sometimes this may happen over a couple sessions, your cleaner is learning all about you, what you prefer and the best way to maximise your experience. Please see through a few sessions and talk to your cleaner if they have misunderstood any of your requests.
• If we are there to clean, picking things up off the floor, washing a lot of dishes and things like this will take time away from your actual cleaning, we will generally pick these things up and put it on the closest surface. Its not up to us to put these things away, unless previously discussed, so please keep this is mind.
• Please lastly, remember we are human, mistakes happen, accidents happen, things get over-looked, the best way to navigate any issue is clear communication, we need calm, open, up front honesty.
And please remember: our bodies take the impact of this work, and cleaning is a luxury service.
Just simply showing gratitude whether in person or through a quick text goes a long way.
