What does going back to work under alert level 3 look like?
Here's your quick guide to workplace readiness in terms of the regulations:-
ℹ️ Risk Assessment & Strategy - before reopening your business, you need to do a risk assessment to give effect to the health and safety protocols (more on this later). The point is to identify the areas within the workplaces that are COVID-19 transmission risks
ℹ️ Compliance Officer- You must identify a compliance officer who will see need to ensure that the necessary health and safety protocols are being implemented. He/she needs to keep a close eye on what's happening
ℹ️ Screening protocols - All employees must be monitored daily for COVID-19 symptoms including fever, sore throat, coughing, etc. Client's must also be screened on entering the workplace.
ℹ️ Employee Training - Employees must be trained on the health and safety protocols put in place in the workplace and how it is implemented.
ℹ️ Emergency Protocols - Employee must have a plan in place on how to deal with employees showing COVID-19 symptoms or tested positive for COVID-19. The idea is to know how to contain the outbreak , to report it and to assist the health department with contact tracing
ℹ️ PPE - Employers must provide the employees with at least cloth masks, sanitiser, barriers, workplace layout changes or any other protective equipment appropriate for the workplace (risk assessment should give you clarity on this)
ℹ️ Social Distancing - Employers need to consider workplace layout changes to promote social distancing & encourage employees to social distance including rotational shifts for lunch hours, rotational work shifts, etc
ℹ️ Hygiene - the workplace must be disinfected prior to reopening your business and ensure that regular hygiene practices are implemented to keep the workplace clean and low risk of transmission.
