¶ OPEN DISCUSSION.

• LET'S ALSO LOOK IN THE MIRROR BEFORE POINTING FINGERS :

• Firstly I want to thank everyone who participated in government funding open discussion. Many important concerns have been raised , including lack of awareness, poor communication, limited feedback, perceived favouritism, age limits and other challenges entrepreneurs face when applying for funding.

These are important issues that deserve attention. However, before we move on to proposing solutions, I would like us to pause and reflect on ourselves as entrepreneurs. This is not about blaming entrepreneurs. It is about recognising that success depends on both sides. Funding institutions have responsibility to be transparent, Fair and communicate clearly. As entrepreneurs we also have a responsibility to prepare ourselves, strengthen our businesses, and submit high quality applications.

If we improve ourselves while also advocating for better funding systems, We stand a much better chance of building successful businesses and creating Jobs in our communities.

Let's continue this discussion. In your opinion, What are the biggest weak point among entrepreneurs that prevent us from securing funding ?

¶ OPEN DISCUSSION:

• MANY ENTREPRENEURS FEEL DISCOURAGED ABOUT APPLYING FOR GOVERNMENT FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES:

• Some of the most frequent concerns include :

1. LIMITED AWARENESS : Many entrepreneurs don't know where funding opportunities are advertised.

2. LACK OF INTERNET ACCESS AND DIGITAL SKILLS : Some businesses struggle to find and complete online applications.

3. COMPLEX APPLICATION FORMS : Requirements can be difficult , especially for first time applicants.

4. UNCLEAR SELECTION CRITERIA : Applicants may not fully understand how winners are chosen.

5. POOR COMMUNICATION : Many applicants never receive updates or confirmation after applying.

6. NO FEEDBACK FOR UNSUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS : Without knowing what went wrong, it's difficult to improve future applications.

7. RESULTS ARE NOT ALWAYS PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED : This can create doubts about the fairness of the process.

8. PERCEIVE LACK OF TRANSPARENCY: When Communication is limited, some people believe opportunities are awarded through hidden methods or favouritism, even when there is no evidence in a specific case.

9. LONG PROCESSING TIMES : Funding decisions can take months , discouraging entrepreneurs.

10. HIGH COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS : Business may need registrations, Tax compliance, Financial records, or business plans that some small enterprises don't yet have.

11. RURAL DISADVANTAGES : Entrepreneurs in rural communities often have less access to information and support than those in cities.

• These challenges reduced trust in government funding programmes. Have you ever applied for government business funding , What is your experience ?
