Carpenter Ant Alert Across Northern Michigan

Carpenter ants are one of the biggest structural pests we deal with this time of year. If you’re seeing large black ants around your cabin, cottage, home, deck, garage, or woodpile, don’t ignore them. Carpenter ants don’t eat wood, but they excavate it to build nests and often indicate moisture damage or rotting wood nearby. Spring and early summer are peak activity periods, and winged ants may begin appearing around homes.

Look for:

🎥 BUTCH LIVE – 60TH BIRTHDAY TICK DRAG

Good morning, everybody! It’s Kenneth ‘Butch’ Hogarth Jr. here with Hogarth’s Pest Control & Wildlife Removal.

Today is a special day — I turned 60 years old!

First off, I want to thank everyone for all the birthday wishes, the support, and for trusting our family business over the years. It means a lot.

I figured there was no better way to spend my birthday than doing what I’ve done most of my life — checking for pests and helping educate people.

So today I’m on Beaver Island doing a tick drag around my property. We’re going to see what’s out here. Hopefully we don’t find any ticks, but the reality is you never know until you look.

Ticks don’t care if it’s your birthday, your vacation, or a holiday weekend. That’s why inspections and monitoring are so important, especially here in Northern Michigan.

We’re going to drag this cloth through the grass and brush and see what Mother Nature has for us today.

If you’re finding ticks around your cabin, cottage, home, or hunting property, now is the time to start paying attention. Tick populations can change from year to year and even property to property.
